Ziba Foods is an artisanal food company that specializes in heirloom and wild-grown dried fruits and nuts from the mineral-rich valleys of Afghanistan. Our focus is on introducing unique products distinguished by their superior quality and flavor. 

We are a social enterprise with a focus on providing sustainable impact to marginalized communities, particularly for women and farmers in Afghanistan.

Our dried fruits and nuts are grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides, and with stable water supplies in multi-generational family farms and village cooperatives. Our heirloom products are varieties passed down through generations with little human interference, and our wild-grown products have historically been available only to the most resourceful foragers. 

Our products contain no sulfites, preservatives, or additives (with the exception of a light dusting of Afghan salt on select dry roasted & salted products).

I received a coupon for $2 off my purchase, so thought I would give them a try. I bought the sun-dried figs (the local supermarket only had two SKUs available), and they were ... figs. Not great, but not bad. They claim to be heirloom in some manner, were shaped like little discs, and tasted a tad drier than the figs I am used, but they weren't particularly distinct. I like the company's mission of importing foods from Afghanistan (assuming the money is going to the workers and not the government) and supporting family farms, but at $9 for just over 5 oz., ($7 with the coupon) I won't be buying them again, especially when figs grown by similarly small domestic farms or coops are just as tasty and available for far less.

I dug right in as soon as I picked these up from the mailbox and tried some new-to-me snacks. I tried the Kishmish Raisins, the Sweet Apricot Kernels, and the Dried Mulberries. All of them were tasty and noticeably fresh. These are going to be awesome healthy snacks to keep in my bag during summer canoe trips, long car rides, beach days, and even just for the mid-day munchies at work. Plus, they look awesome, and as they say "You eat with your eyes first". 

The packaging I received was super cool! The assortment of snackable superfoods they sent me was absolutely delicious!! I'm definitely going to order more of these again!

love this brand so much!! I recently got the sampler pack and can't wait to buy more. It all tastes so fresh and unique and recommend this brand enough to people!

Absolutely delicious... I'm torn as to  whether the packets are too little or too big! I certainly wish they were larger and the contents were available in bulk. But, of course, that would mean I would eat A LOT more and that's probably not a great idea. In any case, the quality is clearly quite high-end and I'm a huge fan. My only warning is that it will only take a taste to have you hooked.

I had never heard of this company before they came up as a "thingdrop," but I really like the mission of providing employment for women in Afghanistan. I received a 10-item variety pack. The box was nicely decorated and everything was packaged very well. I shared the items with friends who gave rave reviews for the trail mix and pistachios and a review of "good but nothing special" for the unsalted almonds. I tried the sun-dried figs, which were a little too sun-dried as they were flavorless and overly chewy. In all, I think some items were better than others but I would give the company another chance. 

Really high quality nuts and dried fruits. Very simple and healthy snacks. I enjoyed trying the variety pack.

Grabbed these from a Thingdrop and was very interested to experience the difference from these snacks and something I might pick up at Trader Joe's. I laid these out as part of a quick charcuterie board and the response was mixed but mostly positive. I agree with a previous reviewer that the dried figs were a miss but most of the other items were tasty and fresh. The natural almonds were a little underwhelming but otherwise, I think I might grab some more of these packs as a healthy and yummy option. I hope we can find them in stores so it's a bit more accessible. 

Loved these. My toddler couldn't get enough, and I was so glad to add another healthy snack option to our rotation. I'd never tried dried mulberries and I'm an instant believer. My favorite is the mix; everything goes great together! Not too salty and not too sweet: just right. 

Trail mixes are what makes this brand stand out, imo! I got the variety pack which has a very generous range of products, and I've been mulling over them for a while. I learned that the best way to enjoy Ziba is in trail mix form.

At first I ate some of the fruits and nuts alone, and my biggest complaint was that the fruits were TOO sweet (esp the mulberries), and the nuts were TOO salty (baby pistachios were my fave, despite the overseasoning). But then it made more sense once I tried their pre-made Trail Mixes. I get it now: the mix is a MUST to get the right balance and complexity. Apricot kernels and Mulberries were a perfect pairing. The Fruit & Nut Trail Mix is also a well rounded flavor mix. Now I know, and with the leftover individual fruit and nut packs, I'm interested in creating my own trail mix blends.

That said, a few of them did taste fine alone (kishmish raisins, raw heirloom almonds, and the apricot kernels), but mixing them together elevates it overall.

Love being introduced to new healthy snack/ingredients, and love the ethos and design of the brand. Will buy these again for a charcuterie board!
