Topicals earns strong reviews for products that visibly fade hyperpigmentation (Faded serum, High Roller) and calm sensitive, reactive skin (Like Butter), indicating the brand works when used consistently. However, many reviews criticize the sulfuric/chemical smell, occasional dryness or irritation, and fussy metal tubes or messy sprays, making the experience divisive despite cute, thoughtful packaging.

I really wanted to like this, specially since there are so many great reviews about these products out there. I purchased 2 tubes of the Faded cream during their Black Friday sale that were never shipped. They eventually refunded the money back after I filed a complaint with the BBB. They weren't responding to customers about their orders on social media which was totally off-putting. Unfortunately, this brand wasn't for me.

The scent is terrible. Smells exactly like Nair.
The perfect lip mask. Also makes a great daily balm when applied lightly. It sticks so well and lasts for hours, I definitely find myself reapplying less then I usually do during the day compared to things like Vaseline and Rhode. It also is so good for my lip picking habits and eczema prone lips.
I've been using the high roller tonic for a while now and recently picked up the faded serum. Both of these have been amazing and I know its hard to believe with skincare but the results have been almost instant with both which makes me enjoy them even more. The one caveat of the faded serum that I'm not sure if it applies to their other serums but the smell...it is interesting to say the least. Beware of the smell and don't worry that you got a bad tube it just smells like that. I will say though it goes away once you apply it so its a nonissue at that point. If you're curious the products are fragrance free so that explains the smell so if you're used to fragranced products it might bother you a bit but again it goes away and the results are worth it!

The faded serum has been effective for me but don’t expect anything as effective as retinol.
So far the hyper pigmentation product is good but tin tube can be messy if traveling.
I love this Black owned brand, I love the sustainable packaging. That these great products come in. I have both faded and butter. I think butter gives summer friday's jet lag cream a run for it money. It is a similar product but this feels a little more like me. Faded has faded my dark marks and i feel like this can be applied all over my body in ways other products don't recommend.
I tried the spray they have for the back, and it worked amazingly with my back acne. I must add that the smell is horrible.

The smell... it shouldn't be that hard to include some non toxic ingredient that neutralizes this horrible smell
I’ve been using the faded serum for about 5 months now and started to see improvements in discoloration and texture within days of using! This is a staple in my skin care routine and I always keep it on hand

I love everything about this product from the way it applies/wears and how it’s the only resurfacing serum gentle enough on my sensitive skin. The only thing that could change is the smell, it’s a little off-putting at first and smells like a hair salon but you get used to it.
I love the mission of this brand and was super excited to try Faded with all the hype out there about it, but I've been using it for months and honestly don't notice a difference? If anything, there's been *marginal* fading but nothing like I saw advertised.

As everyone says-- the smell
I tried the Topicals Faded Serum for Dark Spots and Discoloration. I have a decent amount of hyperpigmentation and was hoping to see acne scars and blemishes start to disappear with regular use of this serum. For reference, I'm a Fitzpatrick Type IV with medium-tan skin that rarely burns. Despite its popularity, I have seen minimal change in the fading of scars on my face. I noticed some tangible increase in brightness in my face, however, it was pretty minimal. The smell makes it difficult to use -- it is as if you're wearing Nair on your face all day and the feel is also very greasy, making it best for use overnight.

Recommend use in conjunction with sunscreen during the day

I've been using both products for a few months. Faded has been very helpful with my hyperpigmentation on my face as well as a chemical burn I had from a deodorant. Like Butter is my go-to for when my skin needs a desperate refresh especially after being in the sun.
Topicals seriously changed my skin. I have been using their Slather and High Roller serums for years and my skin always looks so even and hydrated. I also love their Faded body bar and eye masks, they seriously work.
I use the faded cream because I am someone is suffers from dark spots and acne scars and nothing usually works but this cream lightened and evened out my skin tone incredibly.
I like the products but I am not sure if I can get past the smell.

I get super dry skin during the winter time so these products are actually amazing!
I have been using the Like Butter body mist and hydrating mask. I like it a lot, and it seems to be helping with my dry skin. I use the face mask in the morning, and wash it off after 15 or 20 minutes. Then I start my skincare routine with the mist. I've been using the mist just on my face, but you can use it on your body, too.
This really helped with my hyperpigmentation and dark spots which is really hard for me to manage as a person with POC skin. This is one of the few products I will always reorder.

The smell is a bit off putting but I got used to it eventually.
I just started using this product and I swear I already see a difference. Its only been a few days but ill come back and update the results when its been a month
I have used their Faded Serum

While I appreciate the branding and ethos of this brand, I simply couldn’t get over the smell of the Faded serum. It has a mechanical oil smell that held me back from using this consistently. I also am not a fan of the metal squeeze tube this comes in bc of the sharp edges.
I've been using the Faded cream and I have to say, it's been really effective at fading my dark acne spots. I'll be re-ordering once my tube is finished, and trying the Like Butter mask next.

I've heard lots of people complain about the scent of the Faded cream, but it doesn't really bother me, and isn't offensive. If you're sensitive to scents though, keep this in mind.
