Reviews mention

  • Creamy, luxurious mouthfeel chocolate
  • Inventive, memorable flavor lineup
  • Chunky, satisfying bar format
  • Ethical, mission-driven sourcing
  • Overly sweet chocolate profiles
  • Thick, hard-to-break pieces
  • Inconsistent caramel texture hardness
  • Limited higher-cacao dark options

Tony’s Chocolonely earns strong reviews for rich, creamy chocolate, inventive flavors like Milk Caramel Sea Salt, Dark Almond Sea Salt, and Dark Milk Pretzel Toffee, plus mission-driven, fair-trade sourcing. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some bars taste overly sweet or bland to dark‑chocolate loyalists, the thick, uneven pieces are hard to break and share, and concerns appear about heavy metals in certain dark varieties and salt intensity in caramel bars.

  • I recently tried Tony's Chocolonely chocolate bar and I have to say, I was impressed. The chocolate was rich and creamy, with a smooth texture that melted in my mouth. Overall, I highly recommend Tony's Chocolonely to anyone looking for a delicious and socially responsible chocolate experience.

I appreciated the ethical and sustainable sourcing of the ingredients, as well as the company's commitment to fair trade practices. The unique shape of the bar also made it easy to break off individual pieces to savor over time.

  • I love this chocolate. Especially the dark chocolate. It's got a rich taste to it. Like some have said, not a big milk chocolate flavor fan. But that's always just been my preference. I also feel like a little kid opening it haha!

It is hard to break off pieces. Don't hurt your teeth y'all! I have to use a knife lol. Still love it though.

  • tastes amazing, i saw this in display at target one day and got to reading the back of the chocolate bar. this brand’s mission is so amazing, i implore you to look into it!! i’d def buy this again for a snack or even to include in a gift.

  • Tony's makes really tasty chocolate bars! I especially like the dark chocolate with almonds and sea salt. The bar in itself is quite thick which makes it very satisfying to eat but sometimes difficult to break off pieces.

Not many stores in my area sell Tony's so it's a bit difficult to buy. The dark chocolate bars are lactose free.

  • Seriously delicious! I love the variety and novelty in their flavors: milk honey almond nougat, pretzel toffee, even some collaborations with Ben & Jerry's. It might be a little more expensive than other chocolates, but that's because the brand is dedicated to their 5 sourcing principles that ensure their product is enabling cocoa farmers to earn a living income. So, I feel better about spending a little bit more on it. Also it's pretty fun to eat.. for whatever reason they don't section the chocolate into squares, so each piece is uniquely shaped.

  • In regards to taste, nothing too out of the ordinary. Their only good flavour in my opinion is the caramel sea salt.

  • This chocolate bar was so good. I really enjoyed the flavours. It was sweet, but not overwhelming. It was nutty but not too nutty. It was a great balance of salty. It had everything that you would want in one bite. It’s a great treat.

  • I loved the packaging and the weight feel of the bar in my hand - reminded me of when I was a kid and chocolate bars were huge !!! Bought this for my son and he loved it , bought the dark chocolate for my daughter and she loved hers too . I’d definitely buy it again as a treat for anyone I know !

  • Great product and love their model of being slavery-free (terrifying that there is still slavery on Earth). My fav is the milk chocolate hazelnut, but also love the dark chocolate with pretzel. Very large bars, so I break them up and freeze and just take out 2-3 pieces at a time.

This line got dinged recently in Consumer Reports for having a lot of harmful heavy metals (lead, cadmium) in them. A full bar, combined with other things ingested, could cause you to be over the recommended daily limit quickly. With harmful effects.

  • I love they pourpose, but the chocolate is not great

  • My favorite little treat. I picked up this chocolate when I visited Seattle for the first time and honestly, the reason I grabbed it is because it is named after my son and I thought he would enjoy the candy. It was such a pleasant surprise to try the chocolate and find out just how delicious it is! My favorite is the milk chocolate with caramel it is divine!

  • I felt like I was Willy Wonka himself with this chocolate bar ! It was so huge! The packaging is outstanding and it has all little different notes about the chocolate on it that are very interesting. It tastes really good. I love making brownies or cookies with it.

I think you could make it into a mix and sell of a powder form for sprinkling on items, but at far as the chocolate bar I feel as if it can be a little bit thinner.

  • I am 100% Team Tony's! This chocolate is delicious, love the packaging and also it seems to be on sale at Whole Foods fairly often which helps with the price point. The almond milk chocolate is the go-to. Also what I think is extra cool is that I entered the Chocolonely world because of the packaging / vibe, was secured by the taste and THEN learned the back story of the brand's mission and also educational component on the moderately corrupt corporate chocolate scene so they are putting the work to change the chocolate scene. I subscribe to this on all fronts.

  • Deliciously spectacular chocolate. The best I have ever eaten. Great company and their milk chocolate is to die for. Super creamy and doesn’t give you any sort of stomach ache (even after an entire bar!). Try the Milk Chocolate Hazelnut, the green package.

Make smaller bars! It’s too easy to eat the large ones in one sitting!

  • Love the hazelnut bar so much! This chocolate is top notch, creamy and delicious without any guilt.

I recently learned I can’t have soy so I would love to see a soy free bar for the future!

  • The mini chocolate eggs in the egg box are a joyful Easter product. We enjoyed the flavours and their appearance last year, and I’m sure we’ll buy some this coming Easter.

  • Dead ass, Tony's is mad delicious. It's pure Dutch Cacao from Amsterdam.

  • As an international student that recently moved into the Netherlands, Tony's chocolate is a must of my weekly groceries. I love that they have a great variety of combinations. They are also great small gifts since they have vivid packaging.

  • The best! Especially the orange wrapper one
