The Sill earns mixed reviews: the brand delights with chic pots, approachable education, and healthy arrivals for many buyers, but its plants can be inconsistent and customer service falters. • I ordered a set of plants. The plants themselves arrived healthy and are holding strong after a week (fingers crossed) but there was a snafu with shipping logistics - one plant was shipped without a pot. It was a lot of back and forth with their customer service before they agreed they needed to ship it. The pot then arrived with one piece the wrong size. Waiting to hear back from them to resolve yet another issue.

  • Ordered one ZZ plant online for my boyfriend and bought 2 more at their brick-and-mortar store in SF. Both online and offline experiences were great. They actually have a larger selection of plants in-store. Ordering online was super easy, and nothing was broken during shipping. The sales associate in the store was very knowledgable and let us pick his brain for 30+ minutes.

The pots are so gorgeous and the combo makes it easy for plant novices to pick up both the plant and gorgeous pots in one place. The one thing that I wish would change are the prices. They do tend to be on the expensive side.

  • DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! I bought a plant from The Sill and received it on May 24th. Upon opening the package, I was quickly disappointed when I saw the condition of my new plant. It had fallen out of the pot and was jammed in the bubble wrap, the stick had shot through it, almost breaking it in half. The middle leaves were dead, the rest of the leaves were limp. My husband gave me a gift card for Mother's Day to use with this company, which I applied to this order. I then spent an additional $25 to pay the balance. In total, we spent $51.72, a lot of money for this sad/dead plant. According to their website, The Sill guarantees their plants will arrive in "happy, healthy condition. If not, we replace them for free as part of our 30-Day Customer Happiness Guarantee." Per instructions on their website, I emailed the company immediately upon receipt, explaining the condition of my new plant. This was on the evening of May 24th. I have sent three follow-up emails since then (one on Friday, May 26; Wed, May 31st; Wed June 7th). Their website states that it may take 2-3 business days to respond. It has been over two weeks. I have heard nothing. I even went on their online chat, waited for almost 20 minutes to speak with an agent.; no agent arrived. There was an automated directive to email the company, which I had already done three times. I'm disappointed in the service I have received, and the zero regard for customers who pay a lot for these plants. You can get better plants (at a cheaper price and with better customer service) at Lowes, Home Depot, or your local nursery! Stay away from this company and do not waste your money!

  • I love this company's branding. I purchased a t-shirts as well as a few plants over the year.

  • I think this is a great service for people who live in metropolitan cities that would have a hard time transporting a large plant back to their house after purchasing (i.e., taxi, subway ride, etc.) I live in a more suburban area and the price is kind of high for a plant I can go buy at a local store. I love the look of their pots though! If you're plant dies in the first 30 days, they'll replace it for free if you take a photo of the plant (I forgot to do that part lol)

  • Amaxing, very aesthetic plant shop. Very helpful in finding the right plant for your space and lifestyle.

  • Their plants are just ok. A bit expensive for the price point and their planters don’t all have drainage holes which is strange

  • beautiful plants, but unfortunately two out of four of them have died within a year - I might not be the best plant caretaker though

  • The Sill's first shop was right around the corner from my office in NYC. They're pretty expensive for plants that you can get at Home Depot, but they do have some unique varieties and they are of higher quality. It's a well-curated shop and fun to pop into, I'd just save your money and go to the stores that have the same plants with less cute branding.

  • Super overpriced for plants. I like their plant accessories (pots, waterers, etc) but I find their plants to just be too overpriced. Buy your plants from a local nursery instead! I will say their staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate them!

  • I’ve only ever bought from the sill as gifts for other people but the recipients said they loved their gifts! It was a very pleasant and easy shopping experience for me and I can’t wait to buy one for myself!

  • I don't personally have plants from The Sill, but I have gifted plants to friends and family over the years, and I've been happy both with the ordering experience, as well as what I've been told about delivery and longevity of the plants.

  • My experience with The Sill actually started before they were DTC! I thought their staff is very knowledgeable and they bring their education to their social channels. I’ve only had small plants and merch delivered - which came fine. Really good gift for housewarming!

  • I used the Sill to send a professional gift, so I can't speak to being on the receiving end, but it was overall easy on my end.

  • Easy to use website. Plants look better online then when they arrive. Somewhat difficult to get a replacement plant. Overpriced for what they deliver. Most of the plants can be found locally for a cheaper price.

  • Have gifted friends and family plants, and also bought a monstera for myself. Love the selection of pots.

  • I bought a snake plant for my mom for her birthday. The online shopping experience was awesome but the delivered product was slightly underwhelming. One of the leaves was broken - not worth making a big deal about it but kind of a bummer.
