  • I bought a jar of their Mirabelle jam at a market in Joshua Tree. I balked at the $15 price tag but hadn't found mirabelle jam since I lived in France, so I had to try it! The crazy part is that I would buy it again LOL. It was probably the best jam I've ever had.

  • I fell down a jam rabbit hole recently because my family loves edible gifts for the holidays since they always get used up. I ordered possibly way too many jams to try out before getting them for friends and family. While I love the mission and their fruit sourcing, I don't find every flavor I ordered to be worth the cost. They're clearly well made and I didn't get one that wasn't really tasty, but I'd say you're better using the $15 a jar on some flavors than others. Walker Apples Gravenstein Butter: A really good apple butter, but probably not worth the high price tag. It's super smooth and well cooked down, but I feel like I've had well made apple butter for cheaper than this. Warren Pear & Passionfruit Spread: I was VERY excited about this one because I love pear and think it's underutilized in the U.S. and also really enjoy passionfruit. It pains me to say it, but the passionfruit doesn't really add much here. It tastes like a great pear butter with the crunch of passionfruit seeds but none of the acidity. Sadly, not worth the cost I think. Satsuma Plum & Shiso: Delicious. An incredible plum jam. Maybe the shiso is subtle. I didn't pick it up, but I still think this one is worth the cost for that deep, complex plum flavor. Spiced Gravenstein Apple Butter: I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, it's pretty easy to find a good spiced apple butter. On the other hand, I do think Sqirl gets the perfect balance of spice to apple instead of overpowering their apple with cinnamon like many brands do. Green Gage Plum: Worth the money, absolutely. I will buy this jam over and over. Deep, complex flavor and a silky texture. It's incredible. Other items I grabbed and tried: Preserved Meyer Lemon Puree: This is also without a doubt worth the money. It's absolutely amazing with chicken and rice. Fruit Cheese: I think this is worth the money, too, and would be a star at a wine and cheese night (if you're willing to share it). It's like a thicker pate de fruit for slicing and eating with crackers and cheese, although it's delicious on its own too. Everything was also packaged very well to get across the country to me safely.
