I have a big hard-sided cooler from Rtic. It works very well for car camping or road trips and I've been able to keep things cool overnight for multiple nights without replacing the ice.

We got the 40 can cooler backpack. It comes with lubricant for the zipper and instructions. It’s pretty funny. But also super high quality, so I’m excited to have upgraded. Especially since the impetus for the new cooler was the finicky zipper on our old one. 

I have an RTIC 110 and I love it!  It keeps Ice for extended periods, and has ample space for long camping trips. Large block ice works better vs. cubes for longer periods.

Downsides - Extremely heavy, hard to open when air temp is hot.
