I used the blue color conditioner on my friend's dark brown hair. The color turned out great but there wasn't enough product in the tub to coat her entire head. I suggest getting two if you have long & thick hair.

I purchased Overtone to tone my hair in between my color appointments. I have darker hair so can't speak for the lighter colors. Overtone helped tone down the brassiness in my hair which was why I purchased it. I was able to extend my appointments 2-3 weeks.

I have brown hair, so have a limited number of colors to choose from, which is typical. I don't like this has to go on dry hair instead of wet, so you cant do it in the shower. Colors are decent, works well. Hair felt dry.

I started to get more gray and I wanted something to deepen the color without damaging my hair. I had high hopes but unfortunately the product did not work for me and I ended up using it as a conditional only. Maybe it will work for someone not trying to tackle aging hair but for me its a skip.

Color payoff was good but not great and the kits they sell don’t come with everything you’d need to mix up the colors which seems counterintuitive.

For staying power I recommend using the conditioner mask with weekly/bi-weekly touchups of the conditioner! This will really help the color stay. I love that they make products for brown hair, the red color actually takes on top of my own. The color is very pigmented!! I do wish there was a more subtle auburn red, the orange is very vibrant. Gloves are needed! I also wish it didn't stain my hands so much since i don't have enough gloves for the weekly conditioner. if you really want the product to take better, apply it while dry!

I have used a variety of overtone products since they came out and will say that there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to finding the right product for you, but even when I didn't get the exact color effect I wanted my hair felt so deeply conditioned that I didn't care as much. Honestly, buy a jar of the remedy, the colorless mask. It's amazing. Just be warned, all of the products have a minty smell. It does fade after you rinse it out, though.

Wow. WOW. This brand's claims are just untrue. I tried the ginger mask and it absolutely NEVER left. My highlights turned neon orange and I had to pay hundreds and hundreds to get it fixed.

Does not wash out very good.

I used to use their rich black formula. i’ve used it for years but not anymore. they did something to the formula and now it’s no longer an actual black. it’s purple-blue-green black. i’ve been trying to remove it out of my hair with multiple methods including bleach, color remover, vitamin c, etc. nothing will get it out. now my hair is a splotchy, green-teal-blonde-paint water brown color and my hair is destroyed. i would NEVER recommend this to anyone ever again.

I love overtone. I have been using them for two years. I am brunette and male with shorter hair. I saw some claims about the product sizes and I can see that be legit. However I think if you are getting weird colors your hair is probably over processed and you are seeing some unwanted chemistry. Overtone also works with color correction if you understand color theory.
