Oatly impresses in reviews for café-worthy performance—its Barista Edition froths reliably and delivers a creamy, smooth texture that elevates coffee, matcha, and lattes—while dividing opinion over formulation. Fans praise the rich mouthfeel, neutral-to-oaty flavor, and versatility across baking, cereal, and smoothies; critics cite seed/rapeseed oils, gums/additives, sweetness, and occasional digestive upset as drawbacks. Overall, Oatly is considered a top-tasting, highly consistent oat milk for beverages, but less appealing to buyers prioritizing ultra‑clean ingredients.

  • I love Oatly and it's the only oat milk I buy, but I don't use it as a cow milk replacement. In fact, I love cow milk and have both sitting happily in my fridge as we speak. Oatly has a distinct taste that stands on its own. It's delicious in coffee, it complements espresso so well that I crave it regularly. The original and barista options are so creamy and delicious, and both froth very well. I personally wouldn't swap this in for milk in a recipe but I love it as its own drink and flavor!

  • The taste is pretty good but I don’t like all the carbs and I’m trying to avoid oats now… lectins

  • It is okay! I used to buy it all the time but after using it for the long time it started to taste weird. I felt like every box has a different taste, and its actually not that healthy so stopped buying it.

  • Nice taste and milk alternative. My bloating has reduced since drinking this.

  • Oatly is by far the best-tasting brand of oat milk. It tastes way better than any other oat milk I have ever tried!

  • The best oat milk out there! I always keep this oat milk in my house the flavor is great. I use it in my coffee and my oatmeal.

  • Love the taste

  • reliable, not watery, and doesn't separate in coffee like some other brands do

  • please get any other oat milk - og oatly is full of bad for you oils and non organic oats.

  • Fabulous oat drink, zero lactose and very creamy. Works well in cereal or coffee.

  • Delicious dairy alternative amazing in coffee!

  • I love Oatly - even through I know there are cleaner alternatives on the market, the creaminess Oatly adds to my lattes is unbeatable.

  • The OG oat milk - will always reach for it even as other options have become available. Big fan of the shelf stable versions for camping and such. Make sure to shake well before using!

  • Oatly Original and Barista Edition: Not for Everyone I recently tried both Oatly Original and the Oatly Barista Edition in my quest to find a dairy alternative due to my autoimmune condition. Despite trying these oat milks in various homemade and professionally made coffees, I couldn’t really get on board with them. My primary issue is the taste; both varieties came across as somewhat watery and had a noticeable impact on the overall flavor of my beverages, which I found unappealing. As someone keen on reducing dairy for health reasons, I wanted to love these oat milk products, but unfortunately, they just didn't meet my expectations. They seemed to dilute the richness and taste of my coffee rather than enhancing it. My partner also tried them and shared my sentiments, finding them quite unappetizing in our drinks. I recognize that oat milk is a favorite for many, and its popularity is undeniable. However, based on my personal experience and taste preferences, Oatly's offerings didn't quite hit the mark. They earn a 3/5 from me – while they are a great alternative for those looking to avoid dairy, they may not be the best fit for everyone's palate.

  • First encountered this brand in Finland. I really enjoy the barista blend, it has a nice mouth feel similar to real dairy! A bit confused by the sugar content in Oatly though.

  • Oatly is one of the milk replacements that work for baking.
