Reviews mention

  • Minimalist aesthetic, cohesive design
  • Beloved gel pens, smooth ink
  • Durable acrylic storage organizers
  • Calming, elevated in‑store ambiance
  • Inconsistent apparel quality, fit
  • Limited color variety, neutral palette
  • Occasional pen smudging or skipping
  • Underwhelming cleaning tools, suitcases

Muji wins strong reviews for minimalist, well‑made essentials that generally perform—from beloved 0.38–0.5 gel pens and high‑quality notebooks to durable organizers, travel containers, diffusers, and select apparel—yet the brand draws criticism for inconsistent clothing quality/fit, occasional product misses (cleaning tools, some suitcases), and prices that feel high for basics. Reviews also praise the serene in‑store experience and timeless design while noting limited color variety and that certain items smudge or skip, so discerning shoppers should target stationery, storage, travel accessories, and home goods over more variable categories.

  • Muji offers high quality home goods, stationery, and clothing items that all fit into a minimalist aesthetic. My favorite products from here are the gel pens, paper notebooks, ultrasonic humidifier, and beanbag chair (so comfy but unfortunately so expensive)

  • amazing prices and super useful stuff. I love the lotion pumps and plastic containers with lids for makeup and lotions

  • Muji stores are my safe space. It’s a zen experience in there. I have a wool sweater that I wear into the ground that I got from Muji years and years ago. Housewares, pens, clothes- they have such a good selection for aimlessly perusing. Big fan.

  • Muji is absolutely the best-smelling store. They have great accessories that you always forget you need—their umbrellas are surprisingly sturdy for the price, and their hooded travel pillow is a life saver for red eyes. The minimalist aesthetic is inoffensive, and they have great looking toiletries bottles without the painful price tag.

I wish so many of the clothes weren’t one size fits all—it generally just means they look like a tent on a lot of people.

  • Muji is the best. My favorite things are the cleaning system (3+ tools in one, which is great for small space living. The tools also look really nice compared to others). I also love their socks, which are great quality for the price.

I've been impressed with everything I've bought so far1

  • They offer staple items with a minimalistic look and feel at a very affordable price. Not everything needs to be a splurge! Their notebooks and pens in particular are some of my favorites. Love having a one stop shop that offers most of the basics that a person needs.

  • Muji vs ikea? Muji 90% percent of the time. Awesome value, thoughtful designs, and classic aesthetics that tend to stick around for longer than one would expect. Essentials you don't have to outgrow.

  • Stepping into the Muji store is a dream - with fun minimal products of all types of varieties, from their famous pens, to dishes, to clothing. It's a brand that feels luxury and unique but it within grasp and affordable. The pens are a stand out, and are some of the best available.

I think there just needs to be more brick and mortar stores. There are none in my area, but its always nice to visit one when im visiting a place that has a Muji

  • I like how they use the simplest ingredients, nothing too harsh. I've tried their oil cleanser and I love how easy it emulsified with water without leaving a film of greasiness. It's very mild and perfect for my skin.

I'm very pleased with the variety of things you could buy here at Muji.

  • Muji carries my favorite stationary! I love that their approach to design is simple, functional, and affordable. The Gel Ink Ballpoint .5 pens are my all time favorite!

  • Quality products. Their gel ink ball-point pens are the go-to purchase for my partner every time we shop here. Would recommend.

  • Great, simple, clean aesthetic. Really like how functional all the products are. Especially love the diaries and planners

better online website. The in-store experience is really nice but online is a little clunky.

  • Umm simple and affordable little basics? Sign me up! I wish there was a Muji shop in my neighborhood so I could have easy access to these basics.

Maybe a little bit bland/minimalistic for my taste but they're good at what they do and I know that's a part of the brand/aesthetic! Plenty of opportunity to make things your own in other ways.

  • Love buying household basics at Muji. I have the house slippers, bath/hand towels, and some small bottles for cosmetics.

  • Muji is generally known to be quite affordable and everything is made out of quality materials. I really value their brand transparency in terms of listing where everything was sourced and how it was created. Good to know brands in the league of "fast fashion" are making a conscious effort.

  • Always love popping into a muji store. Everything is thoughtfully designed and reasonably priced.

  • Great aesthetic, utilitarian, and reasonable prices. I always stop by Muji when I'm around one while traveling, as there isn't one where I live!
