Lange Salt Co. hand-harvested clean sea salt inspired by the rich history of salt-making

OUR STORY

We are the Langes. Our salt company was founded on faith, family and a love for healthy, clean food! Salt came into our lives out of necessity when Lydia was diagnosed with POTS in 2015. The doctors at Mayo Clinic told her she needed to drastically increase her salt intake to minimize her symptoms, so she set off looking for clean options to boost her daily consumption. Lydia was surprised to learn that the majority of salts on the market contained high levels of heavy metals, in addition to the anti-caking agents, bleaching chemicals and other additives large companies use to produce in mass quantities.  

In 2018 Denny and Lydia took their first of what would become many trips to Iceland. While falling in love with the country, it’s also where they were first introduced to Icelandic flake salt. After this first trip, Lydia started purchasing the flake salt to spike her water. Every time she reached for a pinch, however, she found herself also sprinkling it on whatever she was snacking on or cooking. It added the perfect finishing crunch to everything…baked goods, steak, salad, raw veggies and everything in between. Suddenly it wasn’t so hard to squeeze in her daily dose of salt!

By 2023, Denny was nearly 20 years deep working in corporate America. Though thankful for the security of working for a large corporation, he was never truly fulfilled by the work he was doing. God started nudging his heart to find more important and fulfilling work elsewhere. Denny had always joked with Lydia that with the amount of salt she was using they should just start their own company. When they finally connected those dots, they spent the rest of the year researching salt and educating themselves on its rich history. They were surprised to discover there are few people in the United States producing clean sea salt. Their passion grew with their research, and they decided to dive in. With Lydia’s love and passion for good, clean salt, and Denny’s 20 years of manufacturing and agricultural experience, it seemed like a perfect marriage. Denny walked away from his position in 2024 and the Lange Salt Company was founded. 

We feel so blessed to be doing what we love. To be included in your kitchen and around your dining room table is an honor. We promise to always produce pure and clean sea salt made with so much love. From our table to yours, enjoy!
