Gardyn’s CEO and founder, FX Rouxel released the first Gardyn system in March 2020 with a vision - to bring farm-fresh produce to your plate in seconds. Born and raised in Provence, France, Rouxel grew up surrounded by local markets and fresh produce at his fingertips at all times. The idea of a head of lettuce traveling three weeks to your table was inconceivable. Rouxel, an avid athlete, was training for an Ironman when he realized the “fresh” foods he was eating weren’t providing the expected nutrients he needed. He took a close look at our food system and knew a solution had to be created to implement lasting change. 

Using his background in computer science, technology, and engineering, Rouxel made this dream a reality when he created Gardyn’s fully automated smart vertical hybriponic™ growing system. Rouxel is also passionate about helping to tackle the detrimental effect that the lack of fresh produce has on our collective health such as obesity and cardiovascular diseases. He is an avid traveler, endurance runner, and Ironman triathlete.
