Freja New York earns mixed reviews: its structured totes like the Paloma, Lafayette, Caroline, and Linnea win praise for durable vegan leather, light carry, clever pockets (key leash, water-bottle slot), and polished design, but several buyers report poor customer service and restrictive returns. Reviews note standout organization and longevity, yet call out capacity quirks, stiff material on some styles, heavy feel when packed, sharp zipper on the Paloma, color transfer lining, and absent protective feet.

Snagged the Paloma on Black Friday a few years ago and it is now my go-to work bag and it’s honestly been great. It fits my 16" MacBook Pro with no problem, and the quality is nice — feels really well made and looks polished without being flashy. It does get a little heavy when it’s fully packed, but the structure holds up and all the interior pockets make it easy to stay organized. I really appreciate the design details — it’s functional, clean, and just works for my day-to-day.

I've had this bag for 2 years and the leather has lasted well. I do think for the price there should be feet to help protect the bottom of the bag. Additionally, it doesn't hold THAT much stuff and when I put my 13' laptop in I can't buckle the medal tab. I have to know I will only be carrying minimal items when I use this bag for the day. I have gotten many compliments on it though

I got the Paloma bag in Taupe from Freja and though it has only been a week, this bag is my absolute love! It is so well thought of. Super spacious, very chic, broad straps and it even has a space for a water bottle such that the shape of the bag doesn't get altered. By itself the bag doesn't have a lot of weight, which was also such a massive plus point for me! Packaging was excellent and the bag comes with its own original dustbag. You can tell it was packaged with care. The price is definitely on the steep side but so far it feels like a darn good investment. Hopefully, it stays so.

I bought the Paloma tote bag based on a TikTok review and now I think it was a paid review. The vegan leather is very stiff. But the worst thing is the top zipper. I have never cut my finger on a bag, but it happened THREE times before I had to stop using the Paloma. The first time it happened, I thought “that’s weird, how did I cut my finger?” And didn’t think of my bag. Then I got another cut and I started to suspect the bag. When it happened a THIRD time and BLOOD WAS RUNNING DOWN MY FINGER right after reaching into the bag, I knew for sure what was causing the cuts. I asked my husband to take a photo of my finger (after it stopped bleeding) and went online to see how to exchange or return the tote. Lo and behold, Freja doesn’t allow returns after two weeks and the item has to be unused. The thing is, it took more than two weeks to figure out what was causing my finger cuts. I sent an email with the photo of my cut finger and requested to return the bag and I would buy another Freja purse that doesn’t have a top zipper. My request was refused and I was offered a 15 percent discount on another purse. Are you effing kidding me??? Their product CUT my finger, I offered to purchase another bag without a top zipper, and they said no. I would have been a longtime customer, but now I will never buy another Freja product and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this brand. Absolutely amazing the horrible customer service.

My favorite bag brand of the moment. I’ve picked up three over the last year (the Paloma, the Caroline and the mini Christie) and the Caroline has quickly become my most used bag. Need it in all the colors!! The material is super nice and easy to clean, and love how clearly well thought out all the designs are. Recommend!’

I ordered a tote bag with a specific color and received a totally different color. I am trying to reach out to customer service but unable get response on timely manner. I have a travel planned in 2 days and that’s why ordered the bag.

I ordered the linnea tote in cappuccino via the sample sale section. I adore it and have used it almost daily for my commute, carrying my laptop and water bottle, among other items. For the year that I've used it, the shape and structure have held up a very well, and I don't baby this bag by any means. Other thoughts on Freja: Lightweight, size does not overwhelm my petite frame, classic, chic, versatile, soft, high quality materials, minimalist, strategic influencer marketing strategy, personalized customer service

Offer slightly smaller versions of the tall tote. The dark red lining in my tote has some color transfer issues when I put my airpods case in my bag.

The customer service is absolutely atrocious—rude and unprofessional. They ignore questions, have completely ghosted me, and their return policy sucks. They don’t refund you within the stated time frame and make you fight for your refund. It’s been over a month since they received my return and have not refunded me While their Instagram marketing is nice, the products look cheap in person. It’s obvious that many corners were cut to reduce production costs. The prices are too high given the lack of detail and overall quality.

I got the Lafeyette as a Christmas gift and is to big so the person does not like it, I asked for a refund and they have a weird policy-Domestic Orders: Items are eligible for refund within 14 days of delivery, and eligible for store credit within 28 days of delivery. For Christmas people buy gifts before and the policy of exchange is different during the holidays . But they don't have a telephone number and how much can a person go back and forth with emails . I would not recommend this brand for anyone . And of course it was delivered on November 30th and I emailed them today and it is going to be 28 Days without talking to someone but emails and then u lost your@money as 28 days will be over while they take you in circles, this sure seems like shady Business to get peoples money for free.

I have somehow become a bit of a mid-luxury tote bag collector, and my Freja bag is one of my favorite purchases. I like how it looks super classic yet feels unique at the same time, and they're still small enough of a brand where I don't constantly see other people with the same bag as me. I need to shout out the exceptionally helpful team as welll, who sent me comparison photos when I couldn't decide on a color and helped facilitate a seamless exchange when I inevitably changed my mind yet again...(finally settled on the largest tote in espresso). so light and comfortable, with great structure!

I purchased the chrystie bag and found the style to be unflattering so I reached out per return instructions on Freja’s website and that’s when my issues begun: DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU’RE UNDECIDED ON THEIR BAGS. The return process is a nightmare! I have been going through hoops to get a refund. According to their customer service rep, they need 15 business days to issue a refund. I waited the 15 bus. days, followed up w/CS and received no response. I find it comical that after a purchase is made, the founder Jenny, promptly sends an automatically generated thank you and points out that she's a human run business…. that is until you attempt a return. Anyway, I was only issued a refund after taking my issue publicly to Jenny and Freja’s Instagram. Ofc they hid my comments and continued to stay silent on the matter. Sad that it takes a dissatisfied comment on a business/founder's public feed to resolve an issue these days

The first Freja bag I bought was the Caroline and my collection has only continued to grow! I wear the Caroline as my everyday purse for dinners and weekend outings then I got the Lafayette for work / holding my laptop throughout the week. The quality is fantastic and looks the exact same since I bought it. I also love the brand's mission of being sustainable and supporting an AAPI/women-owned brand. You would never know it's vegan leather.

Three words to start with describing the Paloma tote: efficient quiet luxury. The bag is large enough to carry all of my work essentials including my laptop, charger, water bottle, and notebook. I can even throw in a change of clothes. But the bag remains light and portable on my commute to and from work. The bag is divided into three main sections, two large side pockets with internal pockets to put small items, and one large middle section to zip my laptop into. The material is smooth and soft, and from what I can tell durable and easy to clean which is a must in NY. Love this bag!

I took a leap on the brand's lafayette tote and it's honestly the bag of my dreams. I have owned the bag in oat for a few years, have taken it on countless international trips and it still looks brand new. the color is surprisingly easy to maintain, which was one of my biggest concerns. It's become my daily driver and I am always reaching for it over my other bags. After using freja i don't thihnk i can ever live without the key leash and genius system of pocekts! I've never found another bag like it on the market.

Absolutely splendid experience purchasing a tote. Had some issues with delivery damage but customer service was incredible and my wife is extremely happy with the quality of her tote. Stephanie in customer service deserves a shout out for being so prompt and helpful.
