Reviews mention

  • Convincing shreddy texture
  • Bold savory flavor
  • Clean ingredient list
  • Versatile cooking performance
  • Occasionally excessive saltiness
  • Uneven flavor consistency
  • Sensitive stew/microwave texture
  • Small package sizing

Daring reviews state the brand works as a convincing plant-based chicken: reviewers praise authentic, shreddy chicken-like texture and bold flavors (Cajun, lemon, buffalo) but note inconsistent taste/texture for some flavors and excessive saltiness in a few items. This makes Daring a smart buy for shoppers seeking versatile, non-breaded vegan chicken that sears and grills well, though cautious buyers should expect variability between SKUs and occasional strong salt or off textures.

  • I love trying plant based products but this one missed the mark. The strips has a weird texture and not a great flavor. Expensive for the amount.

  • obsessed!! The only ones I haven't tried were the breaded, but the other ones are so good! Had in a salad, with rice etc.

    bigger bags please!

  • I'm not vegan or vegetarian and I really enjoyed these. They are easy to cook and the taste and texture are great. Different from chicken, but really tasty. Will repurchase.

  • As close to the taste and texture of real chicken as you could expect from a plant based brand. Incredible.

  • I bought a bag of their plant-based chicken from Costco and thought it tasted pretty good! If you're looking for a chicken alternative, this would be a great product.

  • OK, this tastes like leftover chicken that is torn into shreds and very dry. You know what I'm talking about. The chicken you put in the fridge and forgot about but try to use for something? The chicken with no moisture whatsoever left in it but you eat it anyway because you have nothing else for dinner? I don't understand Daring foods or its popularity. I see the brand everywhere, I had a coupon (not free) and kept buying different packages because maybe the next Daring variety would be better. They weren't.

  • My husband is plant-based so I often find myself eating plant-based meals. I have a love-hate relationship with plant-based "meat" but Daring is definitely one of my favorite brands. It tastes good and the texture is great as well. We've used in all types of meals from fried rice, ramen, chicken pasta dishes, etc. We've even eaten the breaded ones as they are as a chicken nugget replacement.

  • Really like that there's an option for non-breaded vegetarian chicken out there, and this is really tasty. The texture is different than a lot of the other veg chickens - more of that shreddy texture that real chicken has. Appreciate how many "nugget" options are available on the market, but it's nice to have something that can be used in a wider variety of cooking applications.

  • Nobody in our house is vegetarian, but we all enjoy Daring chicken. I tried them because they are also gluten free. We add them to salads. They cook quick and easy. We now keep a bag in the freezer at all times and my daughter frequently asks for her "fake chicken" for dinner.

  • beautiful branding, very disruptive in a fast growing category with many new brands. product met expectations

would love to learn more about how the product is made on the packaging

  • I use the plain chicken pieces for so many recipes and it works amazingly. The texture is great too!

Since the chicken is already gluten free, it would be nice if they made the crispy chicken tenders also gluten free

  • This is the absolute best chicken substitute! I honestly like the texture even better than actual chicken when it's pan-fried, since it crisps up perfectly and shreds really nicely. The taste is also delicious and spot-on.

It would be nice if some other cooking methods could be used on it. Daring tastes great when it's pan-fried, but when I tried to use it in recipes that required stewing/boiling/marinating, then it doesn't do very well and the texture gets really strange. It's also a bit pricey for the amount you get in the bag, but to me, it's worth it.

  • So salty. I don't understand why anyone would want to buy and eat a plant-based chicken. The real thing is so much better for you. Was not a fan of these at all and would never recommend it to anyone or buy it again.

  • I am a vegetarian so I have tried a lot of items like this. I would give it an acceptable review. They are edible and work okay with certain dishes. To me they have an egg aftertaste which I do not like and the texture is a little off.

Improve the taste. Maybe they should be flavored during production. it does not seem like sauces take to this product very well. Try BBQ, marinara or an sweet and sour spice.

  • I love the texture of this more than real chicken. It's constantly in my freezer now. Plus it's one of the few plant based meats that are keto-friendly.

  • Super tasty, easy to cook, feel good food. The original chicken pieces are very versatile, I personally love cooking them up for salads or tacos. The breaded chicken are AMAZING. so good!!
