  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay

  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • I got Cards Against Humanity when it first launched, and it was a great game then. It was funny, it was risque, and yes it had cards that were a bit offensive, but it was equally offensive. It eventually turned very political and very one-sided political. The thing that disappointed me is that what made it fun in the first place was that it had been a game where when it offended, it was equally offensive. So when politics came into it, the fact that it was one-sided was really disappointing. Then to add to it, the expansion packs started just being a lot of repeat cards and you ended up with a lot of duplications and it really became not worth the money. So in order to play now, and to really have fun you have to sit and edit your deck first, you have to edit it for the company that you are having. And that was not the case when the game first came out.

  • Fun game with lots of fun variations. Played it in multiple languages and with many different groups of friends, always come up with silly new options. Great buy!

  • Love this game! Have had so many hours of fun with different types of groups of friends and family. Truly a great game for all to play! Simply packaged for travel anywhere. Highly suggest for game nights!

  • Okay so I will say this is the best card game to play when having a few friends over and a couple of drinks. This isn't for the youngins! Also the expansion packs are always great !

  • Loved the game still play it always a hit!

  • Fun card game. Played with my late teen/young adult nieces after they graduated from Apples to Apples. We did skip a few cards because the content didn’t feel appropriate. I can see the novelty wear out after a few rounds. I will most likely choose Apples to Apples if we had to choose between the two games. Cheers.

  • Hilarious, unique game. Love that there are expansion packs because if you play often enough the responses will get overused.

  • Such a fun game! Make sure the kids aren’t around

  • Definitely not for the easily offended! With that being said… I absolutely have a blast ever time I play this game. Especially when new friends join us. Sure to be a quick ice-breaker! Lots of adult humor (to put it lightly). This one is definitely for after the littles are fast asleep.

  • This game is so fun! I highly recommend. It’s not appropriate to play in all settings, though, because some cards can be inappropriate for certain ages or demographics. One of my favorite games, though.

  • A large friend get together cannot take place without playing cards against humanity. The night always ends in laughing so hard you almost pee your pants. They have several options and rated versions. I think the game is extremely inclusive to all communities.

  • Loved this game, but realized that it’s very dependent on who you play it with and how many extra packs you have. The add-ons you can buy really elevate the game. Overall a lot of fun with people that have a dirty/darker sense of humor. Not really something to play with grammy or pop-pop unless they are just as crass as you are.

  • Great game for adults and a good way to relax and have some fun.

  • It’s an okay game, gets kind of boring eventually. Not my first pick on game night
