Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • Best card game EVER!

  • Cards Against Humanity is easily the funnest card game out there! When the Cards come out, a good time is guaranteed for all! Even the most shy person will have a ball! The options given by the cards you've been dealt are so awful! They're beyond irreverent! But you have to make a choice to stay in the game. You have to just go with the game & remember - it is just a game! Once you accept that fact, you can let your hair down & really have fun with it now! Now go ahead & choose the most outrageous of your cards because it really is not a reflection of what a bad person you are - it is only a game & everyone's choices will be bad too. Each time we've gotten the Cards Against Humanity out, there have been a minimum of 3 people playing. The maximum number we ever played with was 6 people. I think 5 or 6 people is a good number for this game. It keeps everyone's attention with a smaller group. We have laughed so hard that tears were running down our faces! This game is wicked fun & I recommend it for the adults who know how to laugh. Because why? It is only a game & does not reflect your true feelings or moral turpitude! I keep repeating that to alert potential players that the Cards are so outrageous, that no one could actually think or feel that way. To enjoy Cards Against Humanity thoroughly, you have to just go with it & have a good time! This is not a game for children. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 18. We highly recommend this for all fun loving adults. It goes well with alcohol too! 😉

  • Used to love playing Cards Against Humanity but it seems that over time, the cards haven't aged well. I definitely love how the company is run in terms of their social advocacy – like buying up land on the border and raising money for abortion access when Roe v Wade was overturned – but sadly the game itself hasn't held up.

  • We played these with a bunch of ladies and it was so much fun. Definitely a nice breaker and you learn a lot about someone else. Loved the game.

  • I absolutely love this game! Reading the cards and what people pick to finish the sentences are so funny!! This is a great game for parties or just to get together with friends!

  • Wicked fun game. I used to play this all the time with my friends. Very entertaining. Awesome cars game! I'd love to own this game myself and be able to host game nights and parties!

  • I've owned this game for a couple of years, it's still a fun game to bring out and play with friends. The expansion packs also are pretty funny.

  • This game is great if you have a shock value type of humor and your friends. Some hilarious moments come with this game.

  • Super fun game and easy to take with you in the go! love that they have different “packs” so you can pick kid friendly etc

  • Hysterical fun, although not always appropriate in a work or school seeing. Expansion packs keep the game fresh. Beware, your cheeks will be hurting so badly from laughing after you play this game

  • I've played the game tonssss and tons of times over the years, it gets less funny when you have gone through all the cards of course. But I've been playing this game at parties for the past 10 years, I think maybe because I associate it with high school humor it's less funny but if it's something you've never played or play more infrequently, it really is sooo funny and such a good time. It is rather inappropriate though so be careful which audience you play it with !

  • A bag of laughs! This game is great for playing with friends or family.

  • A classic party game. It can be pretty fun depending on the crowd. Some of the references can be a little outdated, though. I think nowadays CAH has a lot of competitors that are arguably more fun, but I really enjoyed it in middle and early high school.

  • Witty , fun, gets everyon laughing and talking but not a good repeat game.

  • I absolutely adore this game!! Though I don’t personally own it, I know many who do that I’ve played it with. It’s hilarious and even better when half the people playing are drunk 😂

  • This game is literally a game-changer! It is SO fun and makes for the best party. I play it on my birthday with friends every year! If you get offended easily do not play haha!

  • Such a fun game to play with friends for game night

  • Our family loves this game!!! Always lots of laughs

  • Can be very fun - depends on the crowd.
