Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • Fun game that was ahead of its time when it came out. No learning curve, plays like an adult version of apples to apples.

    Feedback

The game can get repetitive after a few play throughs but expansion packs help to keep it going.

  • We love game nights and like to keep a collection of go-to games. This is definitely one we grab often! It is impossible to play it and not laught

  • Very fun game to play with friends! After a while you might see cards used a lot

  • I played this first at a friends house and was immediately hooked. The simple card game is HILARIOUS especially if you have a dirty or dark sense of humour, are into pop culture, politics and such. I enjoyed it so much I bought The Big Black Box and a few expansion packs. If you don't find certain cards funny, you can easily just keep them out and not use them. The game is best with a good size group of 4-8 people. Have some wine, get giddy and have fun.

An inexpensive, Canadian-grown and owned card game that is so simple but hugely hilarious beyond belief. It's a great ice breaker when you are introducing different groups of people together, having a fun night in with your close buddies, take on a vacation, etc. Warning: Unless really chill and cool, don't play it with your family.

  • My family LOVES this game. We almost always play it when we have guests, and we’ve gifted it a few times. Would definitely recommend!

  • I played it once and had a few laughs, but overall did not enjoy it, definitely not my style of game. It is primarily sexual, gore, and racist jokes, probably for people in their early 20s. It serves its purpose, though.

  • Not that great just super insulting and bias things that are not fun to say out loud.

Just want to keep seeing more expansion packs!

  • Cards Against Humanity is just so much fun!!! The perfect way to giggle with your friends on a weekend or week night (beware, certain cards might not be totally family appropriate). Whoever the writers are get all my creds for being perfectly hilarious and raunchy.

  • A good entertaining game for my friends and I!

If you like messed up humor, you will enjoy this game.

  • Fun in your 20s, less so in your 30s/40s.

This is one of those games that was huuuge in college & my 20s. But it's just way less funny/entertaining to me now. Love that it's a non-tech group game though. Kind of a gateway to better card & board games!

  • A round of Cards Against Humanity will always leave you in stitches. Great party game. It can get repetitive if played often, but I guess that's what the expansions are for!

  • I used to play this game at my friend's house all the time and it is so FUN!!! It is hilarious and you seriously never get bored.

  • masterpiece of a game, you need this
