Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • This is such a fun game! We have played it with all different people and friend groups and everyone seems to enjoy it! My only qualm is that after playing it many times, the cards are repetitive and not as funny.

  • I'm not big into games but this is a fun one and a conversation starter, with loose rules that allow for the night to go wherever it wants lol i hate too many rule but this one was fun! I have played many a times

  • Soooooo hilarious! I absolutely love bringing out this game for when my friends and family come over. We always have a great time reading theses! We spend more time laughing then actually reading the cards!

  • I wanted to hate this game but when I let my guard down I ended up loving it lol. Be careful who you play with though! It certainly brings out a different side of people, and it can be fun to share the transgressive, norm-breaking and sometimes shocking or disgusting humor the game inspires. Definitely great for parties, 50/50 on its reliability as an icebreaker… there are lots of expansion packs and we have enjoyed these too.

  • Love love Cards Against Humanity. It's our go-to game with our friends. I did buy the cards against Christmas which I figured would be more family-oriented but I was wrong. Had to go through all the cards and make sure to pull out everything that was super bad. Cards Against Christmas might have been even more hardcore than the regular. Fun game though

  • I love using it at get-togethers with friends! It really makes you think. I don't know how much their subsequent releases were more of the same, but this one in particular is pretty good. You have to be careful who you play it with!

  • my days are all about routines and bedtime stories—but when the kids are finally asleep? It’s Cards Against Humanity time. It’s the perfect mix of hilarious, wildly inappropriate, and exactly what I need to laugh like I’m not responsible for two tiny humans.

  • This game is and endless supply if fun. The fact that you can bring an endless amount of decks together is pretty awesome. We added the Harry Potter in with some "spicy" decks and omg the laughs we got were hilarious. I'm always on the lookout for more packs.

  • Crude game with friends, whats not to love!

  • Super fun game to play with friends or family! Always a good ice breaker

  • Want to make a boring night with friends fun... this is the game for you! It is always fun playing and definitely a good ice breaker. 100% recommend. You don't have to think twice just get it! The best game ever.

  • Looking for a quick to learn and fun game to play with your friends this is it! Works with any type of friend group, even with people who don’t know each other. There is no way to play this game without laughing each round. You get to learn peoples humor and share such fun memories.

  • I am not a huge fan of this game. It's more of a crude or adult version of "Apples to Apples" but it gets boring after a few games. Not a game to stick around with. It can be fun for college-age young adults and friends.

  • This game is ALWAYS a hit when we have adult friends over! The only issue is that we need more cards :) If you play the game long enough, you go through the cards multiple times and it's not as novel.

  • Always a fun game to play and get everyone laughing and just having fun together away from any electronics.

  • This is the best game to play when you have a social gathering at your house. Some crazy things come out of it but as long as you have good friends that have a sense of humor, this goes well. I have played other similar games to this but those are somewhat corny. I liked this one better

  • The Only Game Night Exception! I genuinely hate card and board games—game night is usually my worst nightmare. But Cards Against Humanity? The one game I’m always down to play. It’s fun, interactive, and there are almost no wrong answers—just different perspectives, which makes it even better. Unlike most games, this one actually feels like a bonding experience. You learn a lot about people’s humor, and it’s always a guaranteed laugh. If you’re someone who dreads game night like me, this is the one game that might just change your mind!

  • Forever a favorite game. We’ve been playing this with friends for years and always find ourselves coming back to it. Guaranteed laughs!!
