Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • Although many people find this game hilarious, it is just a bit crude for my taste, but that IS the point. Overall, easy game to play, great for groups, and clean aesthetic.

Perhaps you could provide a family friendly version of this game... or is that just Apples to Apples?

  • Very fun game, makes good conversation between friends and overall makes for a good time.

  • Great game! We have all the sets. Is a dirty minded but funny game! Would recommend to those who have not played it.

    Feedback

You can only play it so many times before the cards are not funny anymore.

  • This is always a fun game to play with a group. The prompts on the cards are pretty funny and it’s a good time to see how people think when choosing the card they want to throw out.

Something that could improve the game would be to have expansion packs that are culturally specific. People love talking about shared cultural experiences and that could be a fun way to get the group talking, laughing and interacting more with each other.

  • This game has pretty much become a household classic. And as the box says it is a game for horrible people. And even if you aren’t a horrible person, you will be after your first session. You’ll learn all sorts of vocabulary that only exist on Urban Dictionary and then you’ll learn to apply them in your games. You’ll learn how dark your humor can go and how to read people. This is a game that is always brought out when there are board game nights. And if you get tired of the cards, there are expansion packs out there too. And if it’s too dark and you want to play with family, there is a PG version too. Overall amazing game!

  • Best after dinner party game

  • It's a fun game to play with a group of friends!

    Nothing!

  • If you don’t have 4+ people , it gets boring real quick but other than that pretty fun.

  • It was a very fun game to play with a large group of friends.

    Feedback

It’s not as much fun to play with a smaller group of people.

  • Pre-TikTok, I have never laughed harder than playing CAH. The prompts and phrases are outrageous and hilarious. The more absurd, the better. It's a great way to break the ice (or absolutely smash the ice) at a party or to spend a night-in on a group trip. Not for the easily offended or the shy :)

    Feedback

Some of the cards have cultural references that may become outdated or not understood by younger generations - would love if there was an recycle/upcycle program to phase cards out and get new ones. Also, every time I've played we usually skip the multiple-blank statement cards. Easier/faster on the single-blanks. But still the game is a modern classic!

  • This is a fun game to play, but it has to be with the right group of people. Some of what is on the cards might be over the top or offensive to some players.

  • Fun game to play with family

    Feedback

Hard to not have so many cards but you run out and it’s the same ones but it’s fun with different people each time

  • Pretty funny game to play with your friends.

    Feedback

It can get a bit repetitive after a few rounds.

  • Cards against humanity is hilarious and fun to play with any adult

    Feedback

Once you’ve played a bunch, the cards aren’t as funny. Could use a refresher pack.

  • Hilarious! Even better when you turn it into a drinking game. Purchasing expansion packs keep it fresh.

  • I really enjoy playing Cards Against Humanity with my friends. It really allows me (as an introvert) to share my deepest, "darkest" thoughts ;) It's also a great way to get to know someone's thought process and how they perceive things.
