Reviews mention

  • Convincing beer-like flavor profile
  • Wide, innovative style selection
  • Clear nutritional labeling information
  • Consistently hoppy, robust taste
  • Overly hoppy flavor across styles
  • Occasional shallow flavor depth
  • Carbonation fades relatively quickly
  • Foamy texture causing bloating

Athletic Brewing earns strong reviews for tasting convincingly like “real” beer—with standouts like Run Wild IPA, Free Wave Hazy, Upside Dawn, and All Out—making it a reliable choice for cutting back on alcohol without sacrificing flavor. Reviews also note drawbacks: some find flavors overly hoppy or lacking depth versus regular beer, carbonation can fade and beers can feel foamy/bloating, and the 0.5% ABV isn’t suitable for those needing 0.0%.

  • I initally bought their Hop Water and I loved the light taste of that. My father-in-law who doesn't drink alcohol drinks athletic brewing at family events and gets to feel included while everyone else has a beer. I think it's great if you're NA!

  • I wanted to love it, but it is just okay for me. I tried the upside dawn product and it was lacking a lot of substance and flavor. It performed in the middle of the NA beer pack for me, but did help me through dry Jan!

  • It tastes like beer. It sounds obvious, but it’s harder than you’d think judging by all the bad non-alcoholic beers out there. I think you would have a really hard time picking this one out in blind tasting with regular beers. I tried both their pilsner and IPA and definitely prefer the IPA but that is more of a preference thing. It does exactly what it is says on the tin and there is no arguing with that.

  • An amazing lineup of near-beer. Discovered during pregnancy and since have subscribed to keep it stocked in the house. Partner also a huge fan. This is coming from San Diegans, with very high standards for beer! Free Wave is the best if you’re looking for an IPA sub.

  • Has become a staple for me as I try to avoid having alcohol in my apartment, and find that a refreshing can of Athletic can hit the spot. Most recently, I’ve been loving their Downwinder Gose beer, which is sour, tart and quenches that need for a beer after a long day or run.

I would love to see it on draft in more bars :)

  • Trail-Run Explorers went to Exmoor for some exhilarating trail running around the coast, up enormous hills, through woods and across fields of wild ponies. I took some Athletic Brewing beers and kept them cool for after each days running. With nearly 40 miles and 8570ft of elevation covered in 3 days these beers were enjoyed by everyone. We even took the beers to the beach afterwards and enjoyed them in the evening sun with pizza, cooler bag essential of course. Oh yes, they're alcohol free. Lovely beers.

  • All Out is just fantastic! Tasty and dark with a smooth foam...

  • When I was pregnant this was a great option to feel a little more included when u went out with friends and my husband.

  • Actually, not bad!! I enjoyed the flavor and how light it was, and I got to enjoy a beer with a friend without having to feel guilty that I wasn't drinking an alcoholic one. It reminded me of the really good Asahi non-alc ones but less flavorful. (but not in a bad way!) I'd definitely buy this again when I'm at a bar again and hanging with my friends.

  • So well done. This NA beer hit the spot and far exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed it with friends and the loved it too. Will defo by again.

  • I'm not a beer drinker as-is, but I would pick this up over regular beer. With that said, I likely wouldn't purchase it again. It wasn't bad, it just didn't wow me as someone who is already a bit averse to beer.

  • As far a NA beers go, this company is making the best tasting brews that are the most similar to a micro-brew.

They tend to be foamy and the experience of drinking a full one makes me feel full and a bit bloaty. I would have more than one if they were more drinkable.

  • Athletic Brewing was my first introduction to non-alcoholic beer and it's been a game changer in my sober curious journey. These beers are a consistent alternative when I want the taste and ritual of craft beer without the buzz. The flavors are surprisingly bold with notes that rival some of the best IPAs and golden ales I've had. Whether it's a weeknight dinner or a post-hike reward they always hit the spot. Over time I've tried other NA options but I keep coming back to Athletic for their quality and variety. It's proof that choosing not to drink doesn't mean giving up on flavor or experience.

  • I bought these as a gift for my BIL, a non-drinker. We were both pleasantly surprised by the robust ale styles and flavors. It is now my go-to beer purchase when I am looking for something 0% (well .5%) ABV. I'm thrilled to see it readily available in the DC area, but also find the shipping to be easy and cost effective.

Honestly, I have no qualms about it -- wish I could find it even more places!

  • Two words: "UPSIDE DAWN"!!! That is the jawn! Athletic brewing beer is a staple in my house! In fact, my wife, who hates beer, loves Upside Dawn I can finally have a beer with my father-in-law, because it's non-alcoholic! ALL the benefits of beer, WITHOUT the harms of alcohol! Low calories! Tastes better than the crappy Michelob Ultra or Miller Lite. Very refreshing no matter when you drink it!

My only negative is stock-outs at my local stores! I'm not a big fan of "Run Wild", and I have yet to try their others because I keep coming back to Upside Dawn!

  • I love these and I feel like they are such a fun alternative to beer if you dont want to drink alcohol but you want the taste. They are a go to for me

  • Still my favorite non-alc beer for the depth of its flavor. Compares favorably to regular IPAs in a way that doesn't feel like you're giving anything up. I'd drink these on a weekday or mixed with alcoholic beers to pace.

  • Great for taste and some of the best flavor options. Quickly becoming the legacy brand in the space with the $50M investment from Kurig. Not as good as some of the other smaller brands in the NA beer space but a solid option.
