Purchased a Russet Archive shelf in “Toast” as I was drawn to their unique and simple design. The actual product arrived and bears little resemblance to the “wood veneer” varnish or stain shown on their website and social media. The pieces are just slathered in flat opaque paint- almost a peanut-orange color. Theres NOTHING to indicate any of the Archive shelves or Russet products are painted with this type of coating. All photos and descriptions on the site and social media would lead you to think it’s made with a normal varnish or stain, not painted this strange flat orangey color! Photos show 2 images of the actual pieces in real life, and 1 stock image from Russet’s social media of what the product is “supposed” to be. The pieces themselves also just seem sloppily and cheaply produced- with dried glue pooled around the connector pegs, and many random dents and flecks in the surfaces of the wood pieces. Not expecting some Miller Knoll masterpiece at this price, but just shocked the actual product looks so poor and so different in person. Feels like about $16 worth of plywood, not a $250 piece. I purchased the Russet Archive during their Black Friday sale, and reached out to the company requesting a return as the product was not as described and showed manufacturing flaws. They are claiming final sale, and refusing to resolve the issue. Avoid them.
