  • Purchased a Russet Archive shelf in “Toast” as I was drawn to their unique and simple design. The actual product arrived and bears little resemblance to the “wood veneer” varnish or stain shown on their website and social media. The pieces are just slathered in flat opaque paint- almost a peanut-orange color. Theres NOTHING to indicate any of the Archive shelves or Russet products are painted with this type of coating. All photos and descriptions on the site and social media would lead you to think it’s made with a normal varnish or stain, not painted this strange flat orangey color! Photos show 2 images of the actual pieces in real life, and 1 stock image from Russet’s social media of what the product is “supposed” to be. The pieces themselves also just seem sloppily and cheaply produced- with dried glue pooled around the connector pegs, and many random dents and flecks in the surfaces of the wood pieces. Not expecting some Miller Knoll masterpiece at this price, but just shocked the actual product looks so poor and so different in person. Feels like about $16 worth of plywood, not a $250 piece. I purchased the Russet Archive during their Black Friday sale, and reached out to the company requesting a return as the product was not as described and showed manufacturing flaws. They are claiming final sale, and refusing to resolve the issue. Avoid them.

  • I bought the architect (desk) and the sidekick (side table) at the same time for my home office and they work really well together. The desk feels solid and well made, and I like that it’s simple but still has some character. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all, which I was slightly worried about ordering online. The sidekick is great next to it — I use it for books and random stuff I don’t want cluttering the desk. It’s small but surprisingly functional. Assembly wasn’t hard, just took a little patience to get everything lined up snug. Once it’s together, it feels sturdy. Overall very pleased with both pieces and would recommend. Extra points for affordability :)

  • An impulse purchase because a <$100 nightstand that’s cool looking and functional seemed too good to be true! The sidekick is very easy to assemble and is made of very solid wood. It feels substantial and sturdy. Assembly was east but I had to do a couple of rounds with the mallet to make sure everything fit snugly. I’d purchase the coffee table if I didn’t already have one!

  • I can't remember how I stumbled upon Russet but I'm so glad I did. I moved into my first apartment this year and my favorite piece of furniture is my oak Russet side-table (the "Sidekick"). It's deceivingly functional with space to fit glasses, books, and a few other things without looking messy.

I struggled to put the pieces together properly using the mallet they provide. I ended up scratching it a bit in the process.
