In a world of give and take, these leggings give more than their share. Straight out of the wash, they are truly soft. The ingenuity is in the fabric and design: finely ribbed organic cotton hugs the body without compression, despite containing no spandex. A challenge with many pure-cotton leggings is that they become what I'd call more pants than leggings because they can't hold their shape. Pansy is remarkable in this regard. These are not high-impact workout leggings, nor were they designed to be. They're the pair you'll reach for when the day calls for stretching, light movement, or lounging. They're also made in California by a small, woman-owned company using 100% organic, USA-grown cotton and organic-cotton thread—details that make them even easier to feel good about wearing. I began researching cleaner leggings after my calves started itching. I can't say definitively that my synthetic leggings were the cause, but I can say the itching is gone, and I'm grateful to have found a genuinely comfortable, thoughtfully made alternative. I'll definitely be trying more from this brand.
