Reviews mention

  • Smooth-writing gel pens
  • Thoughtful minimalist design
  • Durable storage organizers
  • Calming in-store atmosphere
  • Boxy apparel fits
  • Occasional pen smudging
  • Inconsistent clothing quality
  • Flimsy cleaning tools

Muji earns strong reviews as a minimalist one‑stop shop that works well for stationery, storage, and home basics—its 0.36–0.5 gel pens, notebooks, diffusers, and modular organizers draw consistent praise for smooth performance, thoughtful design, and longevity. Reviews also flag drawbacks: clothing can fit boxy or feel mid‑quality, some items (especially certain home goods) feel overpriced, pens may smudge or skip, and online selection/UX lags, making in‑store experiences distinctly better.

  • I absolutely LOVE Muji. Every store I've been to has it's own unique experience, but still adheres to the same aesthetic Muji values. A lot of my stationery and day to day items are from Muji. They closed all the locations in California, but whenever I'm in Portland, Vancouver, or abroad, I go to Muji!

I think the naming convention of some items could be better if changed to something more unique. All their items are named by the material type and then what kind of item. It sounds like it'd be specific enough, but I've tried to find a specific "polypropylene storage box" before with no luck lol.

  • obsessed with their pens. great clothes and home products too!

  • All time favorite brand! They probably have everything u could possibly think of (house and personal wise) and more. Love the minimal look yet still giving function and purpose.

Skincare and makeup line could use some help.

  • If I had to think of a minimalist Japanese brand for everything home, I would think Muji. Simple palette of colors, with functional items that are both simple and durable. Ideal for practical people or even those looking for a relatively plain but elegant items that have a good quality to price ratio.

To have more products that are part of a circular lifecycle = can be used in multiple ways and don’t necessarily become waste after its use. Perhaps even share more about the method/process of production and if materials are environmentally friendly.

  • I think the prices are quite high for the quality of the products. I do however love the minimal aesthetic of everything

    Music inside the stores

  • Muji is one of my favorite stores. It's like Ikea for the minimalist, natural wood look. They have a variety of products from skincare to furniture to stationary - all high quality. I personally use their stationary regularly. The pens glide smoothly across paper and are reasonably priced. In addition, their clothing is high quality, unbranded, and sustainable.

I wish their physical US stores were still operational.

  • Always my go-to for cute and affordable stationary.

  • Muji is great for basics. Dont sleep on their travel bottles! Great to keep your skincare organized and under the limit. Their plastic trays and basic kitchen stuff is great too. Go to a store if you can, shipping takes forever if you order online.

  • Muji is my fave minimalist brand. The price can go a bit high at times, but definitely worth buying if you have the spare cash.

  • I have been using Muji pens and organizing tools for nearly a decade. Their pens are the ONLY ones I use and I get so upset when people "borrow" them and don't return them but I understand because they are truly the best! 0.5 in black is the one!

Nothing that I can think of!

  • Muji gets me every time with their lack of branding and low price point. I often pop into a Muji in NYC to buy a new pen and blank notebook. Other things I've purchased over the years: storage containers, socks, lent roller. My most used item from Muji is my travel toiletry bag. It's such a great size and has held up for a few years now. And while I like I shopping online as much as the next person, the Muji stores are one of the few stores I enjoy browsing in person - it's so satisfying to things so organized.

It feels like some items are really high quality and some items are a bit less so and so I just like to be discerning in what I purchase from Muji.

  • I like the fact that in their stores you can personalize items 💙 and there're also recycling boxes for clothing

I'd love to have more information about materials and sustainability ♻️

  • Minimal. Well-designed. Always functional. I've been buying Muji home products and clothes for the last 20 years of my life. The pens are an absolute joy to write with, and the selection of home storage items are clean and presentable.

    Feedback

Some items are ridiculously expensive for what they are. Maybe need to think about the comparison to competitors when it comes to that. Also, some clothing sizes are so geared to smaller frames, wish Muji could expand on that range.

  • The stationary is good 100% but a note here is that the ink cartridge can leak since the ink is rlly runny and the ink doesn't do well on slippery surfaces like scotch tape where the ink can get rubbed off besides that all their other stuff is rlly high quality! Their in person stores are also rlly ergonomic and natural to walk through with a nice atmosphere too.

    Feedback

Bring back the pen that has the rubber grip and hinged clip, it was such a well designed pen and I regret not buying more :(

  • I received a set of their pens as a gift from a coworker. I must say they do right nice, but not sure of the true value.

    Feedback

I don’t enjoy super thin ink pens. Could use more ink distribution

  • Muji is so amazing. My place was a mess and then with muji I have been able to clean everything up. So easy

  • Just truly obsessed with Muji. I think they are the rare basics store that offers actual quality items at an affordable price. Like everyone says, the pens will change you! Particularly like that they have a lot of organic cotton/unbleached paper. I think their products are reasonably sustainable.

    Feedback

They are really an in person store - the online store is very limited. I am a fan of online shopping, but now that I live in a city with no Muji store I wish I could have access to all their products.

  • Love the store. I first discovered it in Japan in 2017 where I bought hand luggage. I still have it and it’s a model they still sell, it’s great quality. They have a great variety of functional and cute things. I also bought my jewellery organiser from them. They can be a bit expensive.

    Feedback

More competitive prices, some things can be equally found in other stores.

  • Love their products! I use many kinds of their product from skincare to bedding. It's simply beautiful yet functional. but I don't know why there are not so many products on their website compared with their retail stores.

  • So satisfyingly minimal. Essentials with practical, simple design.

I wish the clothing was higher quality / more ethically produced. I would pay more.
