I have more experience with this brand with their lighting products than their home appliances. My boyfriend has a lighting strip for the desk in his room that has been working just fine and lighting up the room sufficiently.

Honestly I don't think you can go wrong when you purchase one of GE's products. I use one of their surge protector's all the time and have no complaints. I love that I can plug in multiple devices by my desk at once. The plug has never been over run even when I have my phone, computer, and iPad all charging at the same time.
