December 20th, 2023:

This week in tabs: Here's what's new in commerce and culture

The yogurt company Chobani has aquired La Colombe, the popular coffee shop chain and canned latte brand for $900 million. Feels like some new coffee flavored dairy products may be hitting the shelves in 2024...

Sauz, tomato spauce brand and past Thingdrop partner launched two new flavors: Wild Rosemary Marinara and Creamy Calabrian Vodka. These new flavors are only available online, but the rest of the brand's line will be purchaseable on-shelf in all Erewhon locations next week.

New balance is joining the fragrance game. If you have always wanted to smell like a freshly opened box of shoes you are in luck! Well actually not really-- the two new scents are only available for the first 100 customers at one particular New Balance Store in Sydney, Australia.

Haus just launched caviar. The brand was acquired this past June by the CPG incubator, The Naked Market after undergoing financial difficulties that resulted in a loss of funding. Would not have predicted that caviar would be the brand's first launch under new leadership, but maybe DTC caviar is an untapped market?

Spice company McCormick & Co. predicts tamarind to be the flavor of 2024. Sour, sweet, tangy. I am not opposed.

Happy Holidays Thingtesters!
