COMMUNITY FEATURE

Hi Julian, please introduce yourself.

My name is Julian Cousins, I’m a photographer, filmmaker and baker. I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, I now live and work in Miami, Florida.

Where do you look to for inspiration, both professionally and personally?

My friends inspire me the most. I love to see what they are working on, or even normal conversations can spark inspiration. Outside of that, I love to watch random films on tubi for new ideas, since they combine so many art styles into one.

What’s the story behind launching Liger’s?

I started because in October 2019 I was sent to Kelowna, Canada for a Bon Appetit shoot. While I was there I had a chocolate chip that changed my life. I got back to Miami and tried to find a cookie as good, with no luck. Shortly after, the pandemic started so I was home with nothing but time. So I spent that time trying to perfect the chocolate chip cookie. I've been selling cookies ever since.

What are some brands you've recently spotted?

Filthy. Filthy is the most authentic streetwear brand in my opinion.

Andrew. The world's best skateshop.

Calma Floral. Very unique florals in Miami.

What's a brand you recently tested?

What else is in your current rotation?

Recently I have been learning how to doing airbrush paintings at my friend Natalia’s studio. She has been teaching me how to use the airbrush and I've finally gotten comfortable with it. Besides that my time is split between baking and photography, thank god.

Who are some spotters in your community who you look to for new things?

My friend Jahi lives in my building, he's younger than me and is always trying to do something or go somewhere. Hanging out at Andrew is also a good place to stay updated. My friend Elizabeth of Calma is also always in the loop.
