New and emerging brands, curated by the Thingtesting team
This week’s finds take us around the world. Dojo World makes certified organic Japanese soy sauce with just four ingredients, Doti hand-pounds Indonesian sambal in small batches, Canary Natural Spirits makes an orange liqueur from oranges grown on its family grove in Redlands, California, and Zaiie Beauty built its skincare and makeup line on olive oil from the founder’s family groves in Palestine. Drink Noctria couldn’t pick just one place, so its canned cocktails mix Oaxacan mezcal with Icelandic glacial water. And Akka Health makes a freeze-dried reindeer liver supplement it calls “the original superfood.” We’ll let you decide on that one.
On the beauty side, Mes Beauty is Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming haircare brand, “designed by Jennifer Lawrence, engineered by Arcaea.” Lumia Theory is a new skincare line built on what it calls “skin-loving formulas,” and Nomadic makes mineral sunscreen for people who’d rather be outside.
Then there’s the stuff that just makes life a little easier. Burn Evenly makes a porcelain topper that keeps your candle from tunneling (finally), Wit Proteins puts a dairy-free protein shake in a pouch you can toss in your bag, and Await Camera made a pocket-sized digital camera with no preview screen. You shoot 24-photo rolls and the prints get mailed to you.
If you’re shopping for family, Wait...You Did What?! makes a guided memoir journal for writing down your life story, and Mumzers makes kids’ clothes for wild little adventures.
