  I've been looking for more consumable gifts to give people. Let's face it, people have enough stuff. That's how I stumbled on Yami Yami, the maker of what is the most delicious jam I have ever tasted in my life. It's hard to tell what a quality jam is, especially when you're shopping online. So I was sold on her story; that she's creating small batches of jam out of her own kitchen, selecting the very best produce she can get. Knowing she's based in CA, I already knew she had access to better produce than a lot of us, and I loved her description of how she loves to eat and make her jam: just the right amount of sweetness, thick and spreadable, but with visible chunks of fruit. My first order was two jars of her Mariposa plum jam: one jar was a gift and one was for me. I love the person to whom I gifted the second jar, but wow, I still wish I had kept it for myself. After the first serving, I stopped spreading it on anything and started eating it with a spoon. I limited myself to one spoonful a day to try to make it last as long as possible. The batch sold out so quickly I wasn't able to get another jar. It was exactly as she described: visible chunks of fruit, thick enough to feel like a true jam but still spreadable, just sweet enough but not to the point where sugar covers up the true taste of the fruit. It was everything you want a plum to be even though I'm often disappointed by plums. Since then, I've also ordered some of her pate de fruit. The clementine batch was particularly stand out: with the perfect combination of firmness and softness in the texture, the crunch of crystal sugar on the outside, and a lovely sharp bite from the clementine. Her branding is also so lovely for gifting. The bubble letters of her logo and bright pink jam jar lids are so cute. They look great in a gift basket with some self-care items also in shades of pink.
