Sunki is a low-impact clothing and lifestyle brand from the Philippines that combines form, fashion, and Friday night margaritas.
It was put together by four friends who share a common love for two things: lowering carbon emissions, and feeling fly in a sundress with pockets.
Sunki was born when we noticed the lack of options for locally made garments that were stylish, reliable, available, and most of all — didn’t take a giant dump on the environment. It was even more frustrating, living in a continent where majority of the world’s fast fashion production happens.
At present, our fabrics are made from a range of eco-friendly materials — such as OEKO-TEX®-certified linen, organic linen, and deadstock. Aside from that, we ship our items in 100% biodegradable cassava plastic and with plant-able spinach seed cards. On the manufacturing side, we work with TELAStory Collective, a worker-led, low-waste, female owned manufacturing cooperative that seeks to empower Filipina seamstresses and center sustainability.
Of course, we know we've got a long way to go before we can call ourselves truly sustainable (is there even such a thing?). But our goal is to make eco-friendly fashion more accessible and approachable to people in Southeast Asia and beyond, and hopefully becoming the first certified sustainable brand from the Philippines!
