Hey Zoe! I really appreciate your feedback! Poplights sometimes do get damaged in shipping, and just like your experience with us we replace those as fast as we can!
As for the on/off button - it just requires one gentle tap to turn on and off, not a full hard press. I hope that's helpful! We wanted Poplight to look as seamless as possible (like a wired wall light) so we made the button pretty subtle. 
3M command strips are amazing and can hold a lot of weight for a little piece of tape! That's why use their brand to hold up Poplights! If you don't like using command strips to hang them, you can also use the built in screw holes on Poplights base to screw them into the wall.

Glad it worked for you but all I can say is DO NOT BUY! This product is a complete scam. It’s marketed as a “premium” item, but in reality, it’s cheap garbage. My battery died completely within three weeks, and I can’t even recharge it. Now it’s just a wall ornament. When I reached out to customer service, they refused a refund or return of a faulty item because I didn’t have the original packaging. This is not just frustrating—it’s downright greedy, unethical and not to mention illegal.

For a product that claims to be “renter friendly,” it leaves red marks all over my walls. The tiny 4000mAh battery only lasts around 10 hours at best, and even turning the light on is a challenge. The battery doesn’t connect properly, so you have to balance it carefully, hoping it doesn’t disconnect. And don’t get me started on the overall cheap, flimsy feel of the entire product.

At $100, this is a total rip-off. It’s a cash grab with no regard for quality or customer satisfaction. I can’t believe I fell for it. This product feels like it was rushed out with corners cut at every step. Please do not support this company. Poplight is greedy, immoral, and sells low-quality junk. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

EDIT: After contacting Poplight and requesting a refund for a faulty product, they refused because I didn’t keep the original packaging. This is not only bad business but also a violation of consumer protection laws. They clearly don’t care about their customers and are only interested in taking your money. I’ve filed a complaint with the BBB and will be pursuing a chargeback through my credit card. What a waste.

My battery completely died in 3 weeks. I wish it was user-error but it's not - the quality and quality control of these products is diabolical. I would be surprised if it costs more than $10 to produce. I'm glad it worked out for you, but there is still a significant number of us who are literally stuck with faulty products.

Full disclosure, I'm not a renter. I own but this solved a problem I didn't even know that I had. I use this in my laundry room and closets. It's so nice to have a light that's portable, rechargeable, AND chic. No notes. 

[Edit on 7/11] Knocking this down to 2/5; the lights do not stay on the wall as they are held on with the cheap Command strips. Both lights fell off, which broke one and scratched the other. This would be my third round of replacements for these products if I reach out again. The light also scratched and pulled paint off of the wall; we cannot get it to stay even with additional Command strips.
I really, really wanted to love this product - I love their design, inspiration, and marketing. The Poplights took 4 additional months to ship, which is understandable at their stage and with market conditions, but no discounts or refunds were provided.
Once the lights arrived (I got the sage green lights), they honestly looked quite cheap. For $200+ for two, the lights literally have Command strips you could purchase for $3 on the back, the lights don't turn on easily (we have to push the button 4 or 5 times to get them on), and one of the bulbs came scratched. They are replacing the scratched light and have quick customer care which I appreciate it. I hope changes can be made as the company grows larger, as for now, it is not worth the money.

Two months with my Poplight and I hardly remember life before it. I have it in my dark closet with no electrical switch and it works perfectly. We realized quickly that it wasn't going to stick to the wall so we drilled it in, which I'm not bothered by. The button was a little hard to get to know at first; it's just shy, so don't come on too strong, it just needs a light tap.


I recently purchased the Poplight in sage green, and I’m thoroughly impressed! The color is a beautiful, refreshing addition to my room, seamlessly complementing my decor.

Installation was incredibly straightforward—within minutes, I had it up and running. One of the best features is its removable design, allowing for easy repositioning whenever I want to change things up. The warm glow it emits creates a cozy atmosphere, perfect for relaxing evenings, and I appreciate its energy-efficient LED bulbs.

In summary, the Poplight combines style with practicality, making it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enhance their space. I highly recommend it!

So surprised by the negative reviews on here. I am obsessed with my poplight and attribute peoples' complaints to user error. My Poplight has been stuck to my wall without issue for 6+ months now and is still going strong. I get so many compliments on my light and love that I can move it around when the mood strikes. I agree that the light is on the cooler side but I'm excited to upgrade to their new, warmer models. It's a great value for the money and I am giving Poplights to all my friends for the holidays this year. Highly recommend this product and can't wait to see what else they come up with!

As a 20 something renter in my first apartment, I was eager to find products that I could hold onto and bring with me as I moved. Poplight was a great solution to help add light and color to my space. Since I was in no position to hire an electrician, installing the product took 5 minutes and I loved that it arrived already charged. The hardest part was picking the right color. Also, the built in level was a game changer. Poplight added a nice bit of warmth to my entryway and a great pop of color. 

Since I installed my Poplight I had to move elsewhere and I was easily able to bring it with me. 
For me, it was worth the $95 price and has been useful in decorating my spaces as I move around in this period of my life. 


My Poplights light are so so useful as a renter, where I need more light but don’t want cumbersome lamps all over the place. Very cool colors and options, and love the warmth of the light!! Friends that come over are always complimenting them. Very cool brand, I’m always recommending them to people. Great customer service. Love this product!

What a fantastic concept! I live in an old house and getting new electric work done without spending a ton of money was impossible. Pop lights brought light into all our dark corners! I love getting to love it around to different reading books depending on the season. So user friendly and great costumer service. Would highly recommend! Also women owned and operated so I feel great about supporting. 

I’m obsessed! It perfectly lights up my mudroom where I sadly don’t have any outlets. It was easy to install and has been working great for the 1 year it’s been up. 

This was one of my favorite buys of the year!  I bought two red Poplights. One for my office and one for my utility room. Super easy to install and I love the look/vibe the lights give off. 

Installation is super easy which makes it simple to move it around. Originally installed it as a bedside lamp but when we repositioned our bed, it was super straightforward to reposition as well. And a major space saver on the bedside table! 

I also really appreciate the different warmth settings on the lamp itself. 

As someone who moved in to a house 2 years ago and still hasn't hung a single piece of art I can certify this installation is a piece of cake. Actually took 5 minutes including box opening time (lol) Went in a space in my old house where I never could've wired a light because there is no power in the wall, and it looks SO chic. Ordering more in the warm color for my bedroom and hallway. Love you poplight!!

Beautiful and so easy to use! The design is chic--the materials feels expensive and well-made, but I'm not worried about the lights dropping off the wall and breaking. I have two white poplights and they have really made our guest room feel homey and so cute. Amazing, would recommend!

I love my poplights!! I just installed 3 poplights: 2 sage green in the guest room; one marigold in a storage room with zero lights in it. Poplights are perfect in both spaces! 

I live in a very old house with textured walls, and I was initially a little worried about the adhesive, but I followed these installation instructions (https://thepoplight.com/pages/how-to-videos?srsltid=AfmBOooa77-u9fcrQ0CCQOiq3X2Li_I5GAe4bac-CMEasKrlzH36iM6u) and it worked perfectly.

The marigold is warm and the sage are the new “warmest” color. Both look great, and with the dimming options, I think both options would be great in any room.  

I love how chic they look and love that I can move them as our needs for these two rooms shift and change over time. Definitely worth the price. They look like hard-wired lights but they can be installed and reinstalled in minutes. Will be buying more. 

I'm happy with my Poplight. I first bought it when I saw the Kickstarter...was looking for a temporary light solution for in our attic storage and didn't like how harsh the non-permanent lighting at Home Depot was. Easy to install and battery seems to last a long time...it's been several months and I haven't had to charge it (when using sporadically to access our storage, as one does). The packaging was super polished and the light was as easy to mount and get set up as it is advertised.

Poplight solved a problem I didn't even know I had! Big overhead lights are so harsh and really don't cultivate a vibe like small lighting. The only downside to transitioning into using small lighting  is that I have limited surfaces and wiring lighting is such a pain. This is where Poplight comes to the rescue! Using the Poplight sconces has really added character and coziness to our space without the hassle. We recently moved and removing the Poplights/reinstalling them in our new place was a breeze. I also love that we can use the app to change the settings. We currently use them above our nightstands and are eyeing some more to add to our entryway space. 

These wall lights pair so well with my bed in my bedroom. They are aesthetic and minimalistic and they carry the vibe in my room so well. I’ve never had a problem with any of the batteries or electrical

My biggest complaint is that in 2025, any Bluetooth-connected “smart” device should actually be smart.
Yes, it’s nice that the Pop Light doesn’t damage walls and is renter-friendly...but it’s inexcusable that the only way to control it (other than the manual switch on the light itself) is through their app, which is arguably the most poorly built and designed app I’ve ever used. And I’ve been using smart and connected devices for 15 years.
This product should absolutely integrate with standard smart ecosystems ; Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Matter, or literally anything else. Having a somewhat aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-install, wall-safe light that becomes nearly useless if it’s more than a few feet off the ground is ridiculous.
The design feels cheap, and the overall experience is not good value for the price.
The only real win here is the visual aesthetic and that’s where the compliments end. Otherwise, this is a total bust. 

I have two poplights in two different colors, and really like them. I was having issues with the battery in one of them and reached out to customer support. They were super responsive and ended up sending me a new battery, which has worked well since. Love a renter-friendly product that looks cool without damaging the walls!
