  • Finally a dupe that doesn't embarrass me at dinner! Okay, real talk: I've tried three different BR540 dupes before landing on Así Rojo, and this is the one I actually kept. The opening is genuinely impressive. That saffron-and-jasmine combo hits immediately and smells rich, not cheap. On first spray I did a double-take because the warmth and that kind of glowing, almost metallic sweetness was right there. My partner, who owns the real BR540, spritzed this on their wrist and went quiet for a second. That's a win. The mid-notes are where it gets interesting. The amberwood and gardenia do their thing and give it a soft, slightly powdery depth that I actually prefer for everyday wear vs. the heavier original. It feels a little lighter and more wearable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on your style. Where I'll be honest: the dry-down diverges. The base on the real BR540 has this almost caramelized, complex cedar-ambergris finish that's genuinely hard to replicate. Así Rojo's base is pleasant and warm, but a little more straightforward. The fir resin in particular takes it in a slightly earthier direction than the original. It's still good, just not identical. Longevity was solid for me -- I got right around 7-8 hours, which tracks with what they claim. Projection was strong but not overwhelming, which I appreciated. No headaches, no "I can smell you from across the room" moments. For $39 vs. $435? There's genuinely nothing to complain about. The bottle looks clean and feels well-made. The website was easy to navigate and my order came fast. One thing I'd love to see: a sample size option or a mini before committing to 30ml. I got lucky -- this one's a hit -- but with fragrance you really do need to smell it on your skin before buying. Would buy again and would gift this without hesitation.
