This review takes me full circle, as I discovered Merchery on Thingtesting! And I was excited to try out the company as soon as my company had an occasion to order some corporate merchandise. I love Merchery and had a great experience working with them. I used them to provide merchandise for a retreat we organised last October, including Hoodies, t-shirts, water bottles and tote bags. (I'm a VC and these were gifted to founders). All the products were great (and the customisation very high quality) and I loved the selection. Pricing is competitive and you can't beat their range for curation and innovation when it comes to fun, sustainable ideas. Merch and sustainability no longer needs to be an oxymoron with Merchery! Team also very responsive and helpful - highly recommend trying out.

Be aware that some items have quite long lead times: I'm not great at planning things far in advance, so it's more a reflection on me, but make sure to contact them well ahead of time if you want access to the full suite of items! And they do have a lot of items with short lead times.

I love BR! I've used BR ~10times in the last six months (only renting items, including for one photoshoot) and find the platform really effective and delightful with an amazing selection of clothes. I keep coming back and love that I don't need to buy something new for events that I'll never wear again. I usually rent dresses or signature items (e.g. a jacket) and sometimes handbags. The app is easy to navigate and the process to rent/return was so simple as they take care of cleaning etc. I haven't yet tested renting out my own wardrobe but plan to soon. The BR team is always very friendly and responsive too which helps.

I've only had one instance where the rotator didn't respond at all to my request which was frustrating but ultimately not the platform's fault.

I love Floom! It's my go-to flower delivery platform (I've only used it in the UK, not sure if its elsewhere) and it's always incredibly reliable with a good selection. I've probably sent >30 bouquets from there since I first used it and I've never had a bad experience. I also like that they've onboarded some cool options (lately sent a mini bonsai tree as a housewarming gift, and some cool multicoloured dried flowers as a present to surprise a friend having a bad day - the ones in my picture). Recommend!

Sunnies Face is the world's best kept beauty and skincare secret. I wish it was more available in the US/UK!!! It's from the Philippines. *disclaimer I am friends with the founders, but look at a lot of beauty brands so feel neutral!* Sunnies Face has the rare combo of BOTH incredible branding/packaging AND products that are actually really effective and work. I know the team has spent so long researching the products to make them incredibly high quality, and you can tell with the finish. They take inspiration from some of the world's most innovative beauty markets, like Korea. I'm obsessed with Fluffmate- their iconic lip product that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley used and made go viral - the texture is incredible so feels amazing to apply, plus I'm a big fan of matte nude colours and the shares are really flattering. I also love the Airblush which is cute on both cheeks and lip. I'm desperate to try the Lip Treat asap and The Perfector looks like my DREAM product: will review once I have. Expectations are high!!

    Friends with Sunnies Studios

*Disclaimer, friends with founders!* I'm obsessed with the whole Sunnies family - I've watched their creative process and even been in a few of their shoots, along with buying several of their frames (both eyewear and shades). Super fun styles and loads for each face shape. I love their shapes, colours and the price point is unbeatable. Super friendly customer service (when I went mystery shopping, so they did not know that I knew the founders) and beautiful stores.

I'd love them to be more available in the US and UK.

Deja has changed my daily routine! I bought the Mind Balance capsules last December which came in a kit with the Ayurvedic copper tongue scraper and I've been obsessed with both products since. Love the branding and learning more about Ayurvedic rituals. Found the online quiz really interesting too. Products I've tried: Mind Balance: I'm usually terrible at taking vitamins/supplements but find Mind Balance really effective for making me feel more mindful and less anxious - perfect given I have a pretty hectic job. I don't take them every day but keep them near my coffee/tea in my apartment and take them whenever I know I'm likely to feel stressed/anxious later on. Copper tongue scraper is a GAME CHANGER. Genuinely can't go a day without using it in the mornings now: after you see the difference it makes (read: what comes off!), it's impossible to go back - feel disgusting if I forget to bring it with me or can't do it! Highly recommend trying one, I've also gifted them as presents to several friends over the past three months and everyone loves it. Love the branding and mission.

My favourite oat brand - find it tastes the best and I love the branding. My friend is an oat-milk obsessive and tries every brand, and only buys oatly now, which has probably influenced my opinion.

Nice shoes and super comfy to wear. Unfortunately I stopped wearing them as soon as I moved into tech, given how synonymous the brand is with tech bros / SF lol. I recently bought my dad a pair as a gift though as I do still rate them.

I once forgot my gym sneakers so wore them to run on a treadmill and kept getting electric shocks. Wool and rubber are a bad combo!! Don't make my mistake!! ;-O

    Interned in 2017!

*Disclaimer: I interned at Glossier in 2017 and was given their entire product range to test! However have no affiliation with them now.* I've spent a lot of time thinking about Glossier and testing different products. On balance, I think it's a great 'entry level' skincare brand but doesn't do a ton of "heavy lifting", which I also wouldn't expect for their price point. I don't love the colour cosmetics and masks but there are a few CULT products that I consistently buy on repeat, and would stand by any day against more fancy / expensive brands. Most of them are the ones that sit somehow between active skincare and makeup. My MUST have/try products are as follows: - Invisible Shield daily sunscreen +: I LOVE this product, it smells amazing, has a lightweight invisible texture, and has a lovely sheen to it. I actually use it as a final makeup step, as I love the subtle glow it gives. I would note that I have easy skin so I feel like a light daily SPF is adequate, I would probably use something more heavy duty on vacation. - BoyBrow: the first product I got addicted to - cant fault it, cheap and effective - FutureDew: New discovery and i LOVE it. Perfect dewy glow AND moisturiser - what's not to love - UltraLip: New discovery and REALLY LIKE IT which I didnt expect to as I really dont like the Generation G lipsticks Products I don't love personally: - priming moisturiser actually felt like it dried my skin; rich moisturiser is bit better, but I'm a moisturiser snob and want something more heavy duty - find the Gen G lipsticks drying/not great coverage - dont love the masks- again, for something more heavy duty it's just not the brand I'd go for, but maybe as a teen I would have liked?! Other: - Guilty pleasure is the milky jelly cleanser as I love the smell and texture, but i dont think it's actually that great as a cleanser ! However I literally keep one in my shower since I like the feel of applying it on my skin ! - the lipbalms are fine, super super cute flavours but no more effective than a vaseline etc- but do it for the birthday cake edition

Less plastic packaging would be great. Pricing is very fair. Product feedback as above.

I was once told at a wedding that wearing Santal 33 made me "smell like every stylish gay man in NYC" and I was enormously flattered. Love the brand, packacking and scents. Have used '33 and '29. Stores are always fun to shop in and making the bottles on the spot with a name label is a nice touch. I initially discovered Santal 33 at an LA hotel and then was gifted a bottle (since buying a second) and always get complimented on it.

    Feedback

I did get one bottle in a store that seemed a lot less concentrated than the other bottles, but it was a one-off. It's definitely not cheap. It's also a pretty popular (read: non-unique) scent if you opt for Santal 33. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing.
