Seed

I've never been SO overwhelmed by a product's marketing before. I believed in my soul that this product MUST be a winner, so much so that I told a lot of my friends about it, only a couple weeks after I began taking it. The scientific-sounding research, so many health promises... I loved having the cute little glass vial to take on vacation last week, too! However, I was soon to be disappointed. I received my first shipment about 5-6 weeks ago. I've been an occasional user user of probiotics (my wife, much more so). I also take Juice Plus, a fruit and vegetable powder that contains acidophilus, and I am the most regular person I know. And my friends sometimes ask me why I look so young (I'm 58). I believe part of it, aside from drinking tons of water, is gut health. My stool flows VERY, VERY well. And my colon (per my last colonoscopy) is squeaky clean. When I saw the Seed ads, I figured, why not take it to an even higher level, right? I have been taking Seed every night, on an empty stomach as directed, before bed. All I can say is that I feel bloated, cannot each much food (always feeling full) and my stool is never regular now. I'm pausing Seed today and going back to my regular routine to see if I can get better. As for my wife, she also does not feel regular, and she also says she has been having strange and scary nightmares, almost every night, when taking it, so she also stopped. (After she did, the nightmares stopped.) The sad thing is I ordered a 3-month refill for each of us ($135 x 2), to be more economical and eco-friendly (shipping-wise). I was so convinced that the product MUST be good (the marketing is extraordinary!). But now I'm feeling a bit silly, and a little bit taken advantage of. Is it a thing that some strains of probiotics (and prebiotics) are just not for every person? Do I need a certain strain for it to be compatible with my body? (I have a call into Seed.com to ask questions. I'm so frustrated and bewildered.) I look forward to any feedback I can get on this. My wife, too. And soon I'll find out how my 23-yr old son likes it. He also ordered his own subscription. UPDATE: I got a call back from a very sympathetic and helpful customer service rep at Seed. She took copious notes about mine and my wife's detailed experiences and is passing it along to the scientists at Seed so they can respond to me with specific recommendations (by email). On top of this, she gave me a 50% refund for the 3-month supply we ordered, and said that if we end up deciding to fully discontinue using the product, she would refund the rest of it as well! Whatever concerns I had about Seed (aside from my body's results) were alleviated by her kindness. They seem to really care about their customers!

Marketing is spot-on, as EVERY person has laid out. Beautiful, ecological, smart. I read something somewhere that they did a couple clinical trials, but the results were not yet published. (I'm really curious what those results were!) Will they keep tweaking their strains until most folks feel better when taking it? For the price, and all the thinking/marketing/money they poured into this product, I expected much better. The CVS brand for half this cost per month works WAY better for me. And I'm sad about that. See my UPDATE above. Seed got back to me and was VERY accommodating in giving us a partial refund (so far) and is sharing my info with the scientists for more advice. I'm impressed with them as a company, even if the product does not work for me personally (so far).
