    Haru K 1 Review

Tldr: Gin made from discarded ingredients like cacao husk and sake kasu (the lees left over from sake production) that simply taste... better. Several brand submissions later, finally rolling up my sleeves to write the first TT review - this should already speak to how much I am obsessed with this product. I first had it when my co-worker brought it to the office and I thought it was just another office liquor, but he explained this distillery collaborates with companies/producers to turn discarded ingredients into gifts of new luxury. I tried "Episode 0 - Elegant -" from their LAST brand line, which distils sake kasu (the lees left over from sake production) to produce gin by adding 6 botanicals including lavender, cardamon, ginger, hibiscus tea, and Sichuan pepper. The taste was very well-rounded and rich, resembling the characteristics of sake, but its flavours and aroma from the unique combo of botanical brought this to another level. I wasn't a big fan of gin and was more of a sake person back then, but rushed to get myself several bottles before they were gone. Could also be a great gift but I end up finishing it by myself before it makes it to others' hands 🤷

I wish the bottle was bigger!
