The company is founded by Kathryn Shah and Sarah Bell, who've worked at iconic brands and unicorn start-ups including Veuve Clicquot and Harry's Grooming. The company was inspired by Kathryn's personal story - a trip to Dubai on the way to visit her husband’s family in India awakened her to the pleasure and beauty of dates, no longer relegated to the bulk bins of American grocery. Fast-forward a few years later and a cancer diagnosis led Kathryn to quit refined sugar and explore the healing power of foods. With nothing to satisfy her sweet tooth, Kathryn started experimenting with dates, fruits, nuts, and cacao that are the foundation of the company's products today.
